Content: We reached Davao airport. It was a long journey, but we enjoyed ourselves with our friends and family. The Davao International Airport is also known as Francisco Bangoy International Airport which is the main airport that serving Davao City in the Philippines. The airport was very clean and modern. It is the main landmark that handles both domestic and international flights operating to and from Davao. After departing we walked into the airport to claim our baggage. Many taxies are available outside the airport to explore the city.

Eden Nature Park & Resort

Content: We checked into the Eden Nature Park & Resort. It took about 1 hour to reach the destination. Eden Nature Park is the perfect place for a family trip and to explore the natural beauty. The location of the place was up in the mountains surrounded by a garden of grass and greenery trees. We booked Camellia for our stay. The rooms are equipped with Hot & Cold Shower, Television, and a Mini-Bar. It was the best choice for families.

Content: We headed to the nearby restaurant to have our dinner. The atmosphere was very pleasant. We waited for 15 minutes to get a table. They served food as per our request and taste. The salads are very fresh and presented very elegantly. The ambience was average but the food was excelled.

Eden Nature Park

Content: After breakfast, we headed to Eden Nature Park, one of the famous attractions in Davao. It was a huge hectare of land filled with pine trees and other botanical plants. The place was very impressive and memorable for us. The park was overloaded with the plants, flowers, and trees all over, including hydroponic greenhouses and mango-steen plantations. We opted for a guided shuttle tour that follows a strict schedule. It started on time with a proficient guide, who explained and instructed us very politely.

Content: The tour brought us to the places around the park. We passed by attractions such as Hydroponic Vegetable Garden, the Holiday Lodge, and Terraces. The guide stopped us at the Flower Garden and Amphitheater. We enjoyed wandering around the garden watching beautiful plants and statues. The amphitheater is the spot that usually hosts special occasions and ceremonies. It was rich in the beauty of its architectural style. Apart from that, the place was equipped with flowering plants that attracted our eyes. Then we moved to the next destination.

Tinubdan

Content: We stopped over Tinubdan, where we experienced a cultural excursion into the heartland of indigenous wisdom. We enjoyed the cultural dance that was performed by a group of children. Then we visited Lumadnong Tambal, an herbal medicinal garden. It showcased various medicinal plants used by the Lumads of Mindanao. We could learn about domestic people's lifestyles and the stories of ancient myths and tales of the lumads. We passed through the Organic Vegetable, Herb Garden, and Mayumi's Wishing Well. We enjoyed the entire trip and the guide dropped us at the Eden Fields Recreational Activity Center.

Content: We had lunch at the Vista Restaurant. We enjoyed unlimited servings of soup, fresh vegetables, fruits, desserts, and drinks. The food was good and heavy.

Content: Then we headed towards Aviary and Butterfly Garden, the most beautiful part of the trip. We could experience to hold a butterfly in our hands. The caretaker of the garden placed some sweet syrup into our fingers to easily draw the butterflies. It was a wonderful experience for us.

Content: At last, we rested for a while and headed to Eden Fields Recreational Activity Center. It was the place where we could experience the most thrilling activities and had lots of funs. Sky-cycle, Sky-ride, sky swing, and horseback riding are the activities they provided. We chose Sky-cycle and horseback rides. It was so much fun and at the same time scary too. It was most thrilling to ride a bicycle on a wire. In the middle of the journey, we felt frozen! But the ride was very safe with all safety measures. After that, we went for a horseback ride and roamed around the park. We saw many peacocks freely roaming around the park. Then returned to our cottage and rested.

Content: After breakfast, we checked out of the room and headed to the next destination Philippine Eagle Center. We hired a Toyota Van and decided to visit the Philippine Eagle Center in Malagos. The Philippine Eagle is the largest known eagle on the planet. It was well-maintained with lots of trees which look like a man-made forest with a beautiful landscape. On the way into the park, we saw many monkeys wandering around. We saw a wide collection of Philippine birds and the best of Philippine Flora and Fauna. The entire park was covered with colorful flowering plants and trees. It was the most perfect place for nature lovers. The Diola’s Forest is an exhibition room where we learned the important facts about the Philippine Eagle as well as local conservation efforts. There are many educational programs more available so that the visitors can engage in activities such as the keeper talk wherein the bird’s caretaker will talk about the specific bird’s characteristics, biology, other interesting facts, and the bird’s life at the Center. There is no doubt that this place reestablishes the glory of these distinct and dying breeds of eagles in the country and a good place for bird watching. The kids loved the place and must be visited.

Island Garden City of Samal

Content: Then we headed to the Island Garden City of Samal, which is the province of the Davao Region. Samal Island is located just two kilometres away from Davao which is just around 10 to 15 minutes of sea ride from Davao City. It was a beautiful and exotic island with great destinations.

Content: We checked in to the Pearl Farm Beach Resort, one of the most popular and luxurious beach resorts in Davao. The resort had stunning rooms with a sea view. It was a perfect decision we made, the place took us to an entirely different atmosphere away from urban living. The rooms are well furnished and included the necessary amenities. Everything in the resort was beautiful and the staff was excellent and so friendly. It was highly recommended. It was a little costly but worth for money. After some time we headed to the beach to explore the island. We enjoyed banana boat rides and water polo that was offered by some Pearl Farm Beach Resort. We spend some valuable time on the shore by watching a great sunset view.

Content: We had dinner at the resort in an amazing atmosphere. The buffet provided a wide variety of dishes. The food was presented in a great ambience. We enjoyed our dinner. The staff was very polite and kind. The salads and pasta items are very fresh and tasty.

Day 4 - 21 Aug 2018

Vanishing Island

Content: After breakfast, we headed to Vanishing Island. It was just a small strip of white sand located just minutes away from the coast of Tambo, Babak in Samal. There’s not much to do when at the island, we swam for a while and wandered around the mangroves. From the Santa Ana Wharf near the Magsaysay Park, We took a motorboat which took us to Talikud and Kaputian Island. We enjoyed the island playing in crystal clear water like a private place.

Content: On the way to the next destination, we had lunch from one of the famous restaurants on the island. It was a perfect place to try kinds of seafood. They serve fresh seafood in different ways, from grilled and fried to the soup. We got very fresh and tasty foods garnished in a unique style.

Content: Our next stop was at Monfort Bat Cave, which is the home to millions of Geoffrey’s Rosette Fruit Bat. Monfort Bat Cave was entered into the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest colony of Geoffrey’s Rosette Fruit Bat in the world. At the entrance itself, they placed the stamp of the Guinness Book of World Records. The Sanctuary was maintained and they placed various signboards to lead tourists. The Pathway to the Sanctuary was filled with green grassland. We got various unique pieces of information about the life of bats through the exhibition.

Content: We got some time to take a dip at Hagimit Falls. It is one of the must-visit Samal Island tourist spots. The flowing water coming from the lush forest of Samal is a thing of beauty as it drops to the stream. The water was very chilled as well as comfortable. It was a very picturesque place ever seen on the Island. There are hanging bridge and a concrete one are also available to easily cross from one place to another. The place was surrounded by Hagimit trees and a vast rain-forest. The main feature of the place is the series of cascades ranging from 3 feet to 7 feet deep, forming varied shapes of natural pools.

Content: We return to the resort and spend some time enjoying the beauty of the sea. We had dinner at the restaurant.

Content: Our last day at the Island started with a light breakfast. We headed to Maxima Aquafun, one of the popular attractions. It is the best place to enjoy water sport like scuba dive, snorkel, or kayak in the cool waters of this beach resort. The giant water slide at Maxima AquaFun was our favourite one. It was 40 meters long and about 1 meter wide which lead directly to the seawater. It was a very amazing experience.

Content: We return to the resort and get refreshed. After checking out from the resort we started our journey to Davao city to catch our flight. The entire trip was very luxurious as well as worthwhile. We enjoyed each and every day.
