Day 1 - 25 Dec 2017
Content: Yes, we came to Malaysia on Christmas Day 🙈 It did not start exactly as we planned, as none of our bags arrived and the service from Air China was terrible, but ok, at 3am we leave the airport without a piece of clothing 🙈 We rented a car in the internet - Rentalcars.com - everything worked really well with the car. Don’t forget that they drive like in UK, in the left side.
Day 2 - 26 Dec 2017
Content: From the airport to Fraser Residence is around 1h, so at 4am we arrive at our hotel. An excellent surprise, the hotel was fantastic, super central, great conditions and we paid 120€ for two nights, with breakfast. Of course we stayed up a little later on this first day.
Day 2 - 26 Dec 2017
Content: We start our day exploring the Batu Caves. To explore them you have to start by climbing 272 steps! Inside, the climate is humid, but the place impresses for the amount of temples and the height of the cave. On the way down it's better to take the stairs on the right to access the second cave. We really enjoyed this visit, it is all very impressive.
Day 2 - 26 Dec 2017
Content: In the afternoon we did some shopping, as we were still without bags 🙈 We ended our afternoon visiting the landmark of the country, the Petronas Towers. Between 1998 and 2004 these were the tallest buildings in the world. And today they are still the tallest twin towers in the world. They are really two beautiful and impressive buildings, we really enjoyed seeing them and felt super small around them 🙈
Content: Atmosphere 360 is the restaurant at the top of the KL Tower. We made a reservation for this restaurant online. We paid about 50€ per person, but it was totally worth it. It has an incredible view over the whole city, yes, the whole city because the restaurant is rotating, allowing you to have a different view during the whole dinner. The food is great, so we thought it was a very good experience.
Day 3 - 27 Dec 2017
Content: We started the morning visiting this temple, is a little bit far from the city center, but since we had a car, it was easy for us. We really enjoyed our visit, the temple is huge! We think it is worth the distance to visit this temple.
Day 3 - 27 Dec 2017
Content: It's time to say goodbye to Kuala Lumpur and head to Penang. It's about a 4-hour drive, but it's worth it because it's a journey with beautiful scenery and it's done very well, the roads are good, it's not a complicated route.
Day 3 - 27 Dec 2017
Content: In Penang we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel Penang. We loved the spaces of the hotel, the direct access from the room to the pool was spectacular 😍 For a trip as a couple, I think it's not the ideal hotel, it has lots of entertainment for children, so that makes the hotel always a little noisy, but for those going with family, it's great! The hotel has a direct exit to the beach, but since the beach is not the hotel's, there are always people selling something on the beach, which ends up being a constant nuisance. We ended up spending more time at the pool, which is very good.
Day 3 - 27 Dec 2017
Content: Of course we had to end up having dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe 🙈 We really enjoyed it, the food was great, and they always have live music, which we really liked
Day 4 - 28 Dec 2017
Content: Today was a day to explore the city. We strolled through the streets of Penang looking for the well-known street art, let ourselves get lost among streets and markets, and this was how we spent our morning. It is really very interesting to see the cultural differences, how people live in different ways.
Content: In the afternoon we went to see the Blue Mansion, the famous George Town landmark. The tour to the mansion cost us about 5€. This house belonged to a famous Chinese tycoon of the 19th century. It is a very beautiful space and gives you an idea of what luxury was like at that time.
Content: And we ended the day dining at the Red Garden Food Paradise, right in the center of town. We loved the place, it had a good atmosphere, lots of food options, mostly traditional, and it was super busy with a nice vibe.
Day 5 - 29 Dec 2017
Content: Today we had great news! Finally our bags arrived! 🙈 We decided to spend the morning at the hotel and enjoy the pool.
Content: In the afternoon we decided to give the beach a try, but it always has a little too much clutter for what we wanted. We stayed there for about 2h and went back to the hotel.
Day 6 - 30 Dec 2017
Content: Time to fly somewhere else! This time to Kota Kinabalu, in the northern part of the island of Borneo!
Day 6 - 30 Dec 2017
Content: We arrived at our third and last hotel in Malaysia. Right on the beachfront, the hotel is located in a very nice place. Large gardens, pools, beaches and several restaurants, the hotel has everything you need. We just felt that it was a little old, it needed some updates. We went on an all-inclusive reservation, so we ended the day having dinner at the hotel and resting, since the next day was the last day of the year!
Day 7 - 31 Dec 2017
Content: Last day of the year! We spent the morning between the beach and the hotel pool enjoying a little bit of what was left of our vacations and before we went to find out where we would spend the hottest night of the year.
Content: As in Kota Kinabalu we didn't rent a car, we went by Uber from the hotel to the place that we were told would be busier. We did 45min by Uber and spent about 10€. It was really cheap the transportation there. When we got there, we immediately realized that the party was over there. The place is called Waterfront and has lots of restaurants and bars.
Content: It was at the waterfront that we spent the year, we went from bar to bar and spent an amazing night there, there were party magnets and the atmosphere was great. At the end of the night we took an uber back to our hotel. 💕
Day 8 - 1 Jan 2018
Content: Time to go home 💕 We left the hotel by Uber directly to the Airport. Was an amazing week.
