Content: We landed at Kathmandu Airport. It was very clean and easy to access. The airport is located in the centre of the city. Kathmandu is the largest city in Nepal.

Content: From the airport, we booked a taxi to the Kasthamandap Boutique Hotel. We checked in to the hotel. It was located at the heart of the city, Thamel. It is a most popular tourist district in Kathmandu. For us, finding accommodation in Thamel was an easy task. Staying at the Kasthamandap Boutique Hotel gave us the feeling of home. The front desk staff welcomed us kindly with a welcome drink. The rooms are quite good for the price with a mini-fridge. We spend the rest of the time at the hotel and had dinner from the restaurant.

Content: After a light breakfast from the hotel, we headed towards our first place in our plan. The hotel staff helped us to book a car for sightseeing in Kathmandu. Kathmandu is the most popular tourist spot for both trekkers and holidaymakers.

Content: Our day started from the Pashupatinath temple which is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. It has a large temple complex in Nepal. We saw the entire complex overflowed with pilgrims from all over the world. It was the most important Hindu temple located on the banks of river Bagmati. The cremation of Hindus takes place on supported platforms along the river. The temple complex is surrounded by market stalls selling flowers, rudraksha, pictures of Hindu deities, etc. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The inner sanctum has a Shiva Lingam facing a large Nandhi statue. We saw many small temples within the compound. Each temple has its own sets of rituals to perform. On the bank of River Bagmati, we saw the temple of Kali. It was loaded with the mythology that the people believe that the statue of Kali grows out of its original spot and the world will come to an end when the statue is fully exposed. It has four main doors all covered with silver sheets. We could see many sadhus in Pashupatinath. They are wandering yogis.

Content: We visited Boudha Stupa located in the streets of Kathmandu. Early morning visit was advised by our driver to avoid the crowd, but we started by 8 am. Our driver dropped us at the entrance. We entered into the ticket counter where we saw Buddha idol in black stone with five different postures of Buddha. While walking around the place we saw many colorful prayer flags and can hear the Om Mani Padme Hum tune. These flags bear the names of the people who made their offerings. It is believed that when the flag flutter in the air brings peace and harmony to life. We too hoist a prayer flag in the name of our family. Lhakhang Monastery is located in front of the Boudha Stupa. The upper floor of the Monastery gave a panoramic view of Stupa. We saw some disciples engaged in preparing oil lamps. Finally, we reached in front of a huge bell which is used to alert peoples.

Content: We ate Dal Bhat, from a restaurant nearby Kathmandu Durbar Square. It is one of the popular Nepalese foods. We ordered a vegetarian set contains Moong Daal, rice, spinach curry, cauliflower subji, and salad, etc. The food was good with reasonable price.

Content: Kathmandu Durbar Square is famous among Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. It is well-known for Buddhist and Hindu rituals, holy ceremonies, and royal events. Due to an earthquake, some of the temples and shires were destroyed but it holds its cultural atmosphere. We saw Hanuman Dhoka Palace Complex or Old Royal Palaces inside the Durbar Square. The square acts as an active walkway that connects many streets. Another attractive site on the southern edge of Kathmandu Durbar Square is the Kumari Bahal temple. Due to the time limit, we skipped Patan Durbar Square and return to hotel.

Content: After breakfast our driver dropped us at Indra Chowk. The place is another major attraction in Kathmandu. It is famous for shopping as well as temples and heritage sites. One of the biggest highlights of the place is Sky Temple. It is located on the west side of the square. We saw two brass lions guarded at the entrance of the temple. A silver image inside the temple can see through the windows, it was displayed in the square only during festival times. We walked some while to reach Raki Bazaar. It was a very unique market where world-renowned glass beads of Kathmandu are available. We found many shops selling spices, fresh vegetables, meats, colorful clothes, accessories, footwear, etc. We took valuable time for shopping and to enjoy the place.

Content: We had lunch from the restaurant and planned to visit Bhaktapur- a historical city in Nepal. The lunch was simple and delicious. We ordered momos with Thukpa. The momos were very popular in Nepal. They served hot momos along with some sauces. We enjoyed a very simple lunch.

Content: Bhaktapur implies it is a ‘City of Devotion’. It is located in the eastern part of Kathmandu valley. Bhaktapur Durbar Square is a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated in front of the royal palace of the old Bhaktapur Kingdom. The main attraction in the square is 55 window palace. Then we visit Bhairava Nath Temple, dedicated to Bhairava the manifestation aspect of Lord Shiva. Then we came across Golden Gate which is the most attractive part of the square. After a short visit, we returned to Kathmandu and overnight stay at Kasthamandap Boutique Hotel.

Content: We had a lavish breakfast from the hotel. They serve both Nepalese foods as well as some Indian dishes. We checked out from the hotel and headed to Chitwan.

Content: We booked 3 days a guided trip to Chitwan, especially for Chitwan National Park. The main reason to choose Chitwan is to visit Chitwan National Safari Park. Our driver dropped us at Sauraha Bus Stand. From there tour guide picked up and dropped us at the hotel. When reached lodge they offered refreshment and short class about the place. They gave plans for the day and allocate rooms for all. We had lunch from the lodge and relax for some time. The rooms were quite good and enough for the night stay.

Content: We went for a village tour to a nearby Tharu village. The Tharu people are long-lasting forest people. We welcomed by villagers they offered flowers and refreshments. We got the opportunity to taste some of the traditional ethnic foods. They eat only freshwater fishes, crabs, and snails. One of the best foods in the community was steamed rice flour bread eaten with spicy chutney. There is a Tharu museum that provides a complete insight into the culture, history, and lifestyle of the Tharu people. Tharu people are a group of ethnic indigenous people who were living very close to the jungle. We saw smiling faces around the village. They welcomed every guest to the village warm-heartedly.

Content: They arranged an evening of entertainment while learning more about Tharu culture. Tharu men and women performed traditional folk songs and dances. We got to admire the traditional song and dance of Tharu villagers. We too put some steps along with them and enjoyed it. They shared some stories from their lives and about the harvest and cultural ceremonies. The fire dance they performed was mind-blowing. We had traditional foods and enjoyed their performances.

Content: We had breakfast and started our day with Canoe ride along Rapti River. The ride was very pleasant and thrilling. It was very relaxed to explore Chitwan National Park. We saw many birds along the river. We took some wonderful photos of some rare species of birds, and reptiles. We got a chance to see Giant Hornbill, eagles and many woodpeckers. Our guide reminded us when we reach the most thrilling part of the ride. We saw two rare species of crocodiles- the Marsh Mugger and the fish-eating Gharial. Then the guide accompanied us to jungle walk. It was one of the adventurous and entertaining activities of Chitwan National Park. We saw wild elephants on the way. With the help of an experienced guide, we completed the jungle walk very safely and returned. On the way back our guide allowed us to get photos of Elephant Bathing view.

Content: Elephant Safari is the best way to view wild animals and birds from up close. Our guide said that it was an excellent opportunity to see four different kinds of deer, rhinoceros, wild boar, monkey, leopard, sloth bear, and the Royal Bengal Tiger. We climbed onto an elephant docking station and seated up by wrapping our legs around the corner of the seat. We were not allowed off the elephant until the journey ends. We saw Sambar Deer and many monkeys on the way. We get the most thrilling experience in the jungle. We offered fruits to the elephants and spend some time there. We had our dinner.

Content: We went to the Elephant Breeding Center which was located in a town named Sauraha. It was developed only because to protect and preserve elephants. We saw a small museum inside the center which provides details about elephant breeding. We saw many baby elephants around the big ones. It was an amazing and cool experience that we had. Then we got back to car and moved to our next destination.

Content: We reached Lumbini after 4 hours drive. On the way had light lunch from a restaurant suggested by our driver. Our primary aim to visit this city was to enjoy the unusual beauty of the place along with various wonderful attractions. It is the birthplace of Buddha. It is one of the seven UNESCO World Heritages of Nepal. Lumbini is the place where Queen Maya Devi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama so it is the most important pilgrimage site for Buddhists.

Content: We checked in to our hotel which is situated in the centre of the place. The property was average not up to our expectations. The rooms were too bad and the worst conditioned bathrooms. We adjusted for a day.

Content: Lumbini Museum is located in the northern part of Lumbini which is dedicated to the life of Buddha. Inside the museum, we saw numerous kinds of coins that date back to the first and second centuries. Some statues of animals and plants are preserved in the temple. We saw many photographs of Buddhist sites around the world displayed on the walls of the museum. We understand the rise of Buddhism and the life of Buddha. After dinner we came back to room.

Content: We checked out of the hotel and headed towards the most important site in the city. The Maya Devi Temple is one of the most ancient Buddhist temples in Lumbini. It is located in the middle of the park grounds called the Lumbini Development Zone. We saw a sacred pool called Pushkarini and a sacred garden near the temple. It was the spot where Maya Devi gave birth to Gautama Buddha. It is believed that the sacred pool is the place where queen Maya Devi took bath before giving birth. Outside the temple, we can see an Ashokan Pillar. It is the oldest inscription found in Nepal. We saw a sacred Bodhi Tree beside the temple. It was the most decorated and beautiful place in the temple. The place was kept clean. We saw many colorful prayer flags around the tree.

Content: After lunch, we headed to the last city in our plan, Pokhara. We set another three days to enjoy the beautiful Himalaya city and the city of Lakes Pokhara. It was a perfect spot for holidaymakers. The place is famous for the pure natural beauty. We planned for a leisure trip to Pokhara. Pokhara is known as city of seven lakes.

Content: We checked in to the Butterfly Lodge which is located at the lakeside. It was a perfect spot to enjoy the beauty of nature. The staff welcomed us with a refreshing drink. The rooms were good enough with essential facilities. The bed was clean and the room was spacious. As per our request, they arranged some light food at the room itself.

Content: We started our day with bread toast and omelette. After breakfast, we headed towards Davi’s fall and Caves drive. It was one of the most important tourist spot in Pokhara. It is a small narrow underground waterfall. It was a perfect place for photography, overloaded with natural beauty. We saw a pond where many tourists trying their luck by throwing coins on the statue of God. According to a local legend, the name of the place is debatable. Actually, the official name is Patale Chhango but popularly known as Devi's fall. It is named after the request of a Swiss man. It is said that Davi and his wife visited the falls, but his wife drowned in the sinkhole of the fall. After 3 days her body was found. For her memory Davi request to change the name of the falls.

Content: We then visited a series of caves including Mahendra Cave, Bat Cave, and Gupteswor Mahadeva Cave. Mahendra Cave is full of calcium salt deposition. We saw the formation of limestone and a statue of Lord Shiva, thus this place is more sacred. The Bat Cave is our next destination. It is a small cave that provided a home for a colony of bats. The last cave in our list was Gupteswor Mahadeva Cave. It is a cave temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The deep and dark cave gives a unique opportunity to explore the natural wonders in its truest form. We could able to view Devi's fall from the deep gorge.

Content: We returned to the hotel and had lunch. They served the Nepali Thali set which was worth for money. The platter contains a bowl of soup and salad accompanied with rice, dal, chicken gravy, soya bean roast, and homemade pickle. The most excellent part is the desert. They offered thick yogurt mixed with nuts and fruits. It was the best traditional meals.

Content: Phewa Lake is the signature landmark in Pokhara. It is the second-largest lake in Nepal. We saw a temple of Barahi in the Island. We enjoyed the stunning beauty of mountains in a short boat trip. We hire a small colourful boat and sail through the lake. Due to time limit we missed World Peace Pagoda. We spend some time to relax and had dinner from a local restaurant. We headed back to the hotel.

Content: We started to Sarangkot to see the sunrise view and to enjoy the great view of the Pokhara Valley. Sarangkot is the most popular tourist destination. It is a small hilltop which is famous for its excellent view of sunrise and the Annapurna range. We saw the sunrise view over the snowy mountains. It was a mind-blowing experience. Paragliding is the popular activity there, we paraglide with Open Sky Paragliding. The experience was incredible but scary. The driver dropped us to a restaurant to have some food and relaxed for a while.

Content: We rented a boat and sail towards World Peace Pagoda. It is also known as Shanti Stupa. It is situated on a hilltop overlooking the Phewa Lake. From the hilltop, we saw an amazing view of the lake as well as the mountains. We enjoyed the spiritual beauty of the place. We had some snacks from the cafe.

Content: We returned to the hotel where the hotel representative arranged a small special farewell dinner. The buffet dinner includes soup of the day, simple salad, and chicken roast as a starter. For the main course, they served 5 different types of momos accompanied by dips and sauces. We enjoyed the dinner along with the lake view. This was our last night in Nepal, we enjoyed 10 days without any disappointment. Nepal is always a magical country.
