Day 1 - 14 Jun 2019
Content: After a very long 16- hour flight from South Africa, we’ve finally made it to Phuket. We’ve flown with Etihad and had a really good experience. The flight attendants were friendly and accommodating. We’ve arrived quite late the Friday night and have arranged for a taxi at the airport to take us to our accommodation. It is fairly easy to find a taxi, as they are parked at the exit of the airport.
Day 1 - 14 Jun 2019
Content: We’ve made our way to our resort. We were only spending one night here, since we were traveling to Krabi the next morning and wanted a place close to Bangla road and the harbor. The service here was really good and they were very friendly. The room was basic, but was exactly what we needed for one night.
Content: We then walked all the way to Bangla road - known for its party scene at night. The whole road gets closed and the street lights up with bright neon lights and loud music.
Day 2 - 15 Jun 2019
Content: We got up early and had breakfast at the resort, which was included with the accommodation. The buffet was really nice with a variety of choices to choose from. We were seated at the entrance of the hotel with a lovely view of the ocean.
Day 2 - 15 Jun 2019
Content: The earliest ferry leaves the pier at 9 am. You can buy tickets online in advance or you can buy it at the pier. You’ll travel from the Rassada pier to the Noparathara pier in Ao Nang, Krabi.
Day 2 - 15 Jun 2019
Content: We’ve arrived in Ao Nang, Krabi. Here we waited for our hotel’s speedboat to take us to our accommodation. The hotel we stayed at was on a secluded part of the island and is only accessible by boat or with the monkey trail.
Content: Once we’ve arrived at the resort we just settled in. This was one of the best accommodation’s we stayed at in Thailand. It is secluded and can only be accessed by boat or via the monkey trail. The resort has a speedboat that travels from the resort to the pier every hour, free of charge. The stay includes breakfast and there are two restaurants on the premises where you can eat lunch or breakfast.
Content: We’ve spend the rest of the day being lazy at the pool and just enjoying everything the resort had to offer.
Day 2 - 15 Jun 2019
Content: We had a great dinner at the restaurant located at the resort. The service was excellent and we didn’t have to wait long for our food.
Day 3 - 16 Jun 2019
Content: We’ve started our day with some buffet breakfast at the resort, which is included with your stay. The staff is friendly and the food was really nice. The view even better!
Day 3 - 16 Jun 2019
Content: Climbing the VERY steep stairs to the top of the Tiger Cave Temple was one of my highlights of Krabi. The climb to the top was tiring, but the view at the top was so worth it! You will be asked to take of your shoes once you’ve reached the too, since this is a sacred place.
Content: After our climb, we had some great iced drinks from the cafe located next to the temple. Thereafter we made our way back to Ao Nang.
Day 3 - 16 Jun 2019
Content: We grabbed lunch at Nana Restaurant and the portions were big for the price you pay. The food was also delicious with good service.
Day 3 - 16 Jun 2019
Content: We then explored the streets of Ao Nang and did some shopping. Of all the islands we’ve been to, this one had the best shopping experience at the cheapest prices. We also ended up at the night market where we grabbed some dinner and ended the day with some rolled ice-cream - a must try when you are in Thailand!
Day 3 - 16 Jun 2019
Content: We’ve then made our way back to the resort via the monkey trail (since the speedboat only travels during the day). This trail is safe to use at night and not that far.
Day 4 - 17 Jun 2019
Content: After we had breakfast at the resort, we took a longtail boat to Railay Beach. This area can only be accessed by a boat and there is quite a lot of exploring you can do. You can walk from the east to the west side, with both sides having great swimming spots.
Content: There was a storm brewing and it started to pour, so we ran into the first restaurant which happened to be a pizza restaurant - my favorite. The food was good and the service was quick and friendly.
Content: We explored the Diamond Cave on the island. You can also hike up to the Princess viewpoint, however we were not able to do so since the trail was too slippery and cannot be hiked when it rained.
Content: Once we got back from Railay beach we had a snack and something to drink at The Beach Restaurant. It is situated on the beach, so you’ll have a great view of the ocean. It also has a relaxing atmosphere and the service was good.
Content: We’ve made our way back to the resort and enjoyed our last night on the beach and at the swimming pool.
Day 4 - 17 Jun 2019
Content: We ended our day with dinner at the resort’s restaurant again, since the service was so great and the food so delicious the previous time we ate there.
Day 5 - 18 Jun 2019
Content: After breakfast we’ve headed for the pier again to catch the ferry to our next destination - Koh Phi Phi.
Content: We’ve made our way to our resort. Since this resort is also located on a secluded part of the island, it is only accessible by boat. You’ll have to arrange transport yourself with one of the locals with a tailboat. Although the accommodation itself wasn’t the best, they were busy with upgrades when we were there. The beach in front of the resort made up for it and also the infinity pool at the bar.
Content: We’ve enjoyed a snorkeling excursion that was planned by the resort and just basked in the sun the rest of the day.
Content: The main reason why we chose this resort - its sunset infinity pool. Only for adults and with the sunset restaurant located right at the pool. So while enjoying the last sunlight of the day, you can also grab dinner while you’re at it.
Day 6 - 19 Jun 2019
Content: After we have had breakfast at the resort (which was included) we organized a private boat tour to the surrounding islands. Since this was a private tour and we stayed on the island we got to the smaller islands quite early, which meant we’ve beaten the crowd. Although we could not get off the boat since the area is being rehabilitated, it was still an experience and so breathtaking.
Content: We’ve spend the rest of our private tour at Phi Le lagoon. The pictures do not do this place justice! And this was my favorite activity to do on the Koh Phi Phi island. Here we’ve enjoyed snorkeling and just taking in the scenery.
Day 6 - 19 Jun 2019
Content: We’ve made our way back to the resort and decided to test out their Spa. We wanted to get a traditional Thai message, since we were in Thailand. We’ve made the booking the day before and it was such a great experience. I would’ve visited the Spa again if we had stayed longer on the island.
Content: We’ve spent the rest of the day on the beach at the resort soaking up the sun and watching the sun set.
Content: We’ve had dinner at the resort’s restaurant. The drinks were amazing and the food were not too bad. The service was good and the waiters were friendly.
Day 7 - 20 Jun 2019
Content: After breakfast, we’ve made our way to town and headed for the viewpoint. This is easy to locate (just follow the signs for the tsunami assembly point). You’ll have to pay a small entrance fee for the upkeep of the viewpoint. There are actually three viewpoints, but you’ll only have to pay the entrance fee once.
Day 7 - 20 Jun 2019
Content: After you are done exploring the viewpoints, make your way to View Point Cafe for some delicious sandwiches. Here you’ll also have a great view of Phi Phi. We’ve then explored the rest of the island and beaches.
Day 7 - 20 Jun 2019
Content: We grabbed pizza for dinner and this place was quite crowded, but the price was not too bad and the service was also good. This is more of a western fast food place than a local restaurant.
Day 7 - 20 Jun 2019
Content: We stopped at the Beach bar for some drinks.
Content: We’ve ended our day at the sunset pool at our resort - our favorite place at the resort.
Day 8 - 21 Jun 2019
Content: After breakfast, we’ve made our way to the pier to join a ferry to transport us back to Phuket. The boat ride was quite a rough one since there was a storm brewing.
Day 8 - 21 Jun 2019
Content: We made our way to our resort, which was located on Kata beach. Since check-in was only at 2, we dropped off our bags and made our way to a restaurant close by to grab some lunch.
Day 8 - 21 Jun 2019
Content: We grabbed lunch at a restaurant situated next to our resort. The service was great and the food delicious. The best burgers we’ve had while we were in Thailand.
Day 8 - 21 Jun 2019
Content: We’ve spent the rest of the day exploring Kata beach by foot. After which we grabbed dinner at the resort’s restaurant.
Day 9 - 22 Jun 2019
Content: We started the morning with a breakfast buffet at the resort (which is included with the accommodation). There was a good variety of food and an excellent view of the ocean.
Content: Our first stop was Big Buddha. They were still busy with renovations and although you don’t have to pay to visit, you can donate money that will go towards the renovations. This is a temple, so it is important that you dress appropriately. Either cover your shoulders and knees or take a scarf with to throw over your shoulders when you visit this temple.
Content: We got back to the resort and spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the beach and the resort.
Day 9 - 22 Jun 2019
Content: We’ve explored the town more and headed to the food market in the area. There are many food stalls available to choose from and this is the cheapest food you’ll find. It is usually best to buy from stalls that are busy and shows good hygiene.
Day 10 - 23 Jun 2019
Content: We’ve spent our last few hours in Thailand at the resort and on the beach.
Day 10 - 23 Jun 2019
Content: We made our way to the airport to take the long flight back home. We’ve had a great time exploring three different areas of Thailand.
