Day 1 - 31 Dec 2019
Content: Flew from Zurich to Dubai on December 30 with Emirates Airlines. Spent three nights including New Year’s Eve at the Sheraton.
Day 2 - 1 Jan 2020
Content: Visited the Palm. We have been to Dubai before but it here. We took a cab to the monorail and then the monorail to Atlantis.
Day 3 - 2 Jan 2020
Content: In the morning we flew from Dubai to Singapore. We stayed near Clarke Quay. We had a great view of the bay and the city from our room. We stayed in Singapore for 4 nights.
Content: Singapore is a very walkable city. If you don’t want to walk, public transportation is fantastic.
Day 4 - 3 Jan 2020
Content: In the morning we first explored the city by boat. The river cruise starts from Clarke Quay. You can get off at multiple spots.
Content: Checked out the Art Science Museum.
Content: There are great views of downtown from in front of the Art Science Museum.
Content: We then walked over to Gardens By the Bay
Content: You can walk around the supertrees and garden for free but to enter the domes you need to purchase tickets.
Content: The Cloud Forest Dome is spectacular. It was our favorite of the three.
Content: This dome has plants of more arid climates.
Day 4 - 3 Jan 2020

Content: Walked around old Singapore
Content: Checked out the Raffles Hotel. A grand old colonial structure.
Content: Ok
Content: It was at the Long Bar at the Raffles that the Singapore Sling drink was invented. We stood in line for about an hour to get a table but we’re rewarded with excellent drinks. It is quite pricey though, be forewarned, still when in Singapore I think this stop is a must.
Content: In the early evening we headed back to Marina Bay Sands and to Gardens by the Bay for the evening light shows.
Content: This is a huge and nice mall.
Content: Every evening the supertrees light up with a musical light spectacular. It is free. Get there a bit in advance and stake out a good spot to sit and admire the light show.
Content: After the show l walk around the gardens.
Content: The second light and sound show of the evening took place on the other side of the Marina Bay Sands. There are lots of spots to sit but getting there a bit early is also advised here.
Day 6 - 5 Jan 2020
Content: In the morning we did some more extensive waking around the city. Lots of cool modern buildings to see.
Content: This bridge is spectacular.
Content: Singapore Zoomhas an evening Light Safari which is very well done. We had a great time. This is a bit further from the city center and we took a cab both ways.
Day 7 - 6 Jan 2020
Content: Singapore Changi is the most amazing airport in the world. I could spend a couple of days here without wanting to leave. Lots of great food and the Jewel is exactly that.
Day 7 - 6 Jan 2020
Content: Flew to Borneo from Singapore. Spent two nights in Kota Kinabalu
Content: The Mercure has a nice rooftop pool and bar.
Day 8 - 7 Jan 2020
Content: Early in the morning we took a short flight and then a cab to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center.
Content: The center raises orphaned orangutans and releases them to the wild. A fantastic place. We came to Borneo especially to see these magnificent apes. We also visited the Sun Bear Center across the street.
Content: In the afternoon we flew back to Kota Kinabalu.
Day 8 - 7 Jan 2020
Content: Walked around town in the evening.
Day 9 - 8 Jan 2020
Content: The next morning we took an flight to Kuala Lumpur. In KL we stayed at The Majestic Hotel. Spent the evening waking around this market. We got some dinner from vendors.
Content: We had evening drinks at this bar with great views of the city.
Day 10 - 9 Jan 2020
Content: In the morning we took a cab to Batu Caves. This is a very touristy area but worth the visit. Lots of monkeys hang out trying to get food from the visitors.
Content: Lots of steps less up to the caves where the temples are. Older folks will have not take some breaks climbing.
Day 10 - 9 Jan 2020
Content: Our hotel, The Majestic is a beautiful old colonial building. Highly recommended. KL is not nearly as walkable as Singapore. In fact we took cabs everywhere we went. Luckily they are quite inexpensive. We used a local Uber like app called Grab.
Day 11 - 10 Jan 2020
Content: In the morning we visited ISKL which is where one of us went to school for two years at 3-5 years of age. They have a huge new campus and gave us an excellent tour. Back at the hotel we had afternoon tea. It was lovely.
Content: In the evening we went to KL Tower. We purchased tickets and took the elevator to the top. Great views of the city abound.
Content: We then walked around the Petronas Twin Towers. They look beautiful all lit up. To visit you need to book tickets in advance which we did for the following day.
Content: The bar at the Traders Hotel has probably the best views of the Petronas Towers in all of KL. We had some dinner and drinks here. Highly recommended.
Day 12 - 11 Jan 2020
Content: In the morning we visited the Petronas Twin Towers. This is the bridge connecting the two buildings. You need to book tickets in advance for a time slot. The groups are very small with makes for a very relaxed visit.

Content: This is a beautiful temple any day of the year but right before Chinese New Year it looks it’s best. All the pretty lanterns create a special atmosphere.
Content: Had dinner at this mall. Lots of tasty choices.

Content: Flew back to Zurich from Kuala Lumpur via Dubai on Emirates Airlines.
