Content: HOFBURG Sissi Castle: Together with the more peripheral and less ancient Schönbrunn Palace, the Hofburg complex was the center of Austrian power for more than six centuries. The Hofburg overlooks the Heldenplatz where every year the stalls of the Christmas markets are set up. Looking at the complex from Josefsplatz, the left side is the Augustinerkirche, in Gothic style, where the hearts of the Habsburgs are kept and where you can admire the funeral monument to Maria Cristina by Antonio Canova. In the inner buildings of the Hofburg you can visit the state apartments and the collection of imperial treasures.
