Content: A security check was pretty smooth. The airport is really small. Everything is quite expensive. A drinking water point is missing there. I would expect that in a such "green" country like Austria to reduce plastic waste!

Content: As soon as we picked up our rental car, started our Austria itinerary by driving south to Hohenwerfen Castle in Werfen. The drive takes 45 minutes. Cradled by the Berchtesgaden Alps and the Tennengebirge (Tennen Mountains), the 900-year-old Hohenwerfen fortress stands proud atop a steep rock overlooking the Salzach Valley.
Content: You can access this special filming location from the town of Werfen. Head to Gschwandtanger Meadow via Schartenbergstraße. The filming location is marked with an enclosed viewing area.
Content: This alm restaurant is a mere 2-minute walk from the parking lot. The food and the views don’t disappoint.

Content: Hotel Schwaigerhof is the place to stay when you don’t want to worry about where to eat, or what to do. This full-board hotel (breakfast and dinner included) spoils guests with its pools (indoor and outdoor), wellness area, and views of the Dachstein massif.

Content: To start the hike to Giglachseen, you’ll first need to drive to the alpine hamlet Ursprungalm via a toll road (4.20 EUR per car). It takes about 30-minutes to drive up the Preuneggtal Valley to Ursprungalm. From the alm, it takes about one hour to reach Oberere Giglachsee along a wide and level path. You’ll first arrive at the mountain hut Giglachseen Hütte. Continue following the trail to Ignaz – Mattis Hütte, another hut perched above the Unterer Giglachsee. With its lakeside views, this is an ideal place for lunch on a sunny day.After lunch, continue following the trail around the lake. It takes about 1 hour to complete the circuit. Follow the same trail back to Ursprungalm.
Content: After your hike, drive to Mühlbach am Hochkönig, where we will stay two nights.

Content: We took a hiking bus to the trailhead. Hop on bus 593. Got off the bus at the stop: Dienten a. Hgk. Parkplatz Erichhütte. The hotel gave us Hochkönig Card which gives free transportation on local buses.
Content: It is a 31-stage long-distance hiking trail in Salzburg. This is a thematic hiking trail linking the region’s alms, or high alpine pastures. The distance: 11.3 km and time taken for it is 3.5 hours.
Content: After a long day hiking we decided to look at Arthurhaus restaurant, at first looked nice but after asking for a English menu because we are tourist from Australia and want to spend money we got told no German only ok ,then we got wifi to translate the whole menu so that was a bit hard so asked nicely the waiter to help us and he responded with (well that is going to take half an hour to do) what the ... never ever we have experienced rude behavior.

Content: The 48-km Grossglockner High Alpine Road is a paved serpentine road that steers you into the heart of Hohe Tauern National Park and directly to the base of the Grossglockner (3,798 m), Austria’s highest mountain. The alpine road stretches between Fusch an der Großglocknerstraße in Salzburg with Heiligenblut am Großglockner in Carinthia. The drive from Filzmoos to Fusch an der Großglocknerstraße is about 1 hour. Continue Driving to Matrei in Osttirol. The road ends in Heiligenblut am Großglockner.

Content: From Matrei in Osttirol, continued our drive to Gschlöss Valley. We parked at the Matreier Tauernhaus guesthouse and take the Vendiger Taxi to the small alpine hamlet of Innergschlöss, in order to start the Glacier Trail.

Content: The Innergschlöss Glacier Loop Trail is a hike that combines fairy-tale like scenes of wooden cottages with imposing landscapes of ice and moraine. The distance is 18 km and took 4 hours for the Glacier Trail Loop.

Content: After leaving Matrier Tauernhaus, we continued driving on 108 (north) in the direction of Südportal Felbertauerntunnel. We paid a toll of 11 EUR (private cars) to drive through the tunnel.
Content: Alpin Lodge das Zillergrund is a stunning family-run hotel with a marvelous spa and wellness center and an on-site Tyrolean restaurant. Bedrooms are spacious, extremely comfortable, and immaculately clean. our breakfast and dinner are included in the room rate.
Day 6 - 6 Sep 2019
Content: From Mayrhofen in the direction of Ginzling We drive the 13.3 km Alpenstrasse Schlegeis road to the reservoir. For trail we took route of Schlegeis Stausee (1,785 m) – Friesenberghaus (2,500 m) – Olpererhütte (2,389 m). The total distance is 13 km total and the time taken was 7 hours.
Content: This traditional Austrian hotel serves delicious Tyrolean food between 11 am and 10 pm every day.
Day 7 - 7 Sep 2019
Content: Our 7-day Austria itinerary concludes with a visit to Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, It took and hour to reach there. Great place to visit for history lovers. Pictures are not allowed in the chambers so we took pictures from the outside of the palace and from the silver ware and treasure rooms. Audio guide available in many languages. Tip: take earphones with you so you do not have to hold next to ears all the time. Avoid at busy times
Content: Innsbruck is no wonder, one of the most beautiful cities in the world and this is one of the monuments which are a gem in the city. The square around Golden Roof is more often than not crowded, while there are a bunch of great cafes and restaurants in the square.
Content: We stumbled into the Old Town Square and found the Golden Roof. Then the facade of this building got our attention. The coloration and intricate designs were what got our attention. It is in the same area as the Golden Roof, just turn to the side a bit and look out for this beautiful building. We thought it was quite an interesting find.
Day 7 - 7 Sep 2019
Content: We took the fastest way to Salzburg City cut through Germany. We took our flight back home it was wonderful destination with hiking.
