This architectural masterpiece is the real pride of the city, even more so than the historic university and the famous breweries. The hall is a late Gothic style building built in the 15th century, whose facade is entirely decorated with 236 statues of historical figures. Today the administrative offices of the municipality have been moved to a more modern location and the ancient town hall has a mere ceremonial function, which has allowed it to be opened to the public for guided tours.
