Day 1 - 15 May 2022
Content: As always, we started our trips by car from Prague, and after many many hours driving we reached our accommodation in Slovenia.
Day 1 - 15 May 2022
Content: This was our Airbnb accommodation at Bled Lake. It was a small room but nicely decorated. Also, we had bikes at our disposal to go around Bled lake.
Day 2 - 16 May 2022
Content: If you are wandering how to spend quality time in one day at Bled lake, here is my suggestion: from sunrise until sunset. At sunrise, excursion to Mount Ojstrica overlooking Lake Bled for a panoramic view from above. Mid morning Take a swim in the lake, the temperature is around 24 degrees In the afternoon, take a bike ride around the lake to admire the island from every angle. At sunset, rent a wooden boat and go to the island.
Content: At lunchtime Taste the renowned Kremna Rezina (Bled cake). I didn’t like that as much but it is really famous in Slovenia, so I think you should try anyway
Day 3 - 17 May 2022
Content: Vintgar Gorge is a beautiful canyon of the river with waterfall. The gorge is 1.6 Km long and the trail is one-way only, meaning you cannot go back on the same path but, once you reach the exit, you have to follow the signs to return to the entrance. The path is easy and flat and it takes around 40 mins to reach the exit. However, the way back is not pleasant and easy as you won't be accompanied by spectacular views on the river and it takes 1 hour hiking up hills and climbing several steps. The entrance fee to the Gorge is 10 Eur/person and you can find toilets and restouration points at the beginning and at the end of the trail. Where to park: there are 3 parking areas at Vintgar Gorge. We decided to leave our car at the parking nearest to the entrance (P1). The fee is 5 Eur/day althought you can expect to spend no more than 2 hours at the place.
Day 3 - 17 May 2022
Content: After returning our morning hike, we had an excellent lunch in the central city of Bled. Here we tasted traditional food, such as salami and cheese of all kinds
Day 4 - 18 May 2022
Content: Zelenci Nature Reserve is home to various interesting flora and fauna. The lake is a game of colours and shades of blue and green. To reach the lake in 5 minutes you can follow a wooden footbridge that starts from the parking area. The parking is free of charge.
Content: Jasna Lake is the result of two interconnected articial lakes at the confluence of the Velika Pisnica and Mala Pisnica streams. It not far away from Bled, it took us 40 minutes by car. This place is ideal for a short break when visiting Zelenci Nature Reserve. The nearest parking to the lake costs only 0,80 Eur/h.
Day 5 - 19 May 2022
Content: Piran in one day is absolutely feasible, we stayed in Italy, in Trieste for three days and from there we moved by car. Piran is a very precious city on the Adriatic Sea, which rises along the Slovenian coast and is only 40 minutes from Trieste, so it is also a perfect destination for Italians who want to spend a different day than usual going abroad but without leaving. too much from home. If the short driving distance from Italy is a convenience, the same cannot be said for parking. In fact, leaving your car around Piran is not easy as all parking spaces are intended for residents. However, do not worry, there are several garages used for parking our cars, obviously for a fee and not always comfortable (we came across a rather narrow parking area, where we had to do several maneuvers to get into our slot). We paid 12 Euros for 5 hours of parking and at the exit of the parking there was a shuttle bus that took us for free to the city center, in the main square dedicated to Giuseppe Tartini.
Day 5 - 19 May 2022
Content: Start from Piazza Tartini, an oval-shaped square with a typically Venetian look: houses with colorful facades and the bell tower, which exactly resembles that of Piazza San Marco. Continue towards the Church of Sn Giorgio and climb the bell tower for a 360 degree view over the entire city. The view is breathtaking, from there you can admire the square, see the city walls, the port and observe how far the peninsula extends to the sea, where the red of the roofs ends up giving way to the infinite blue, where the color of the sea mixes with that of the sky. To climb the bell tower you pay the modest sum of 2 Euro / person and a narrow staircase (140 steps) will lead you to the top of one of the most beautiful views over the city. Even the photos are not bad from there, so this is a stop that I highly recommend.
Content: Leaving the bell tower and after a moderate 15-minute climb, I recommend that you visit another unmissable stop in Piran: the City Walls. The price is 3 Euro / adult or 2 Euro / student. Other activities to do are definitely walking around the city and swimming at the tip of the peninsula on a hot summer day.
Day 6 - 20 May 2022
Content: After leaving Piran, we took a quick stop in Italy, in particular Trieste, which is the closest city to Slovenia. There we spent our day walking around the city, having aperitivo with aperol spritz and enjoying the Italian atmosphere before heading to our next place: Miramare castle
Day 6 - 20 May 2022
Content: Trieste is one of the most beautiful castles I've ever seen! And I've seen many castles in Europe. But this enchanted me for the position by the sea, hence the name Miramare. The Prince of Habsburg had it built as a residence for his beloved. The castle, now used as a museum, is surrounded by a large garden and wood. The entrance to the gardens is free, while the visit to the museum and the interior of the castle requires the purchase of a ticket at a cost of 10 Euros. Parking at the castle also costs 2 euros / hour, but we found a small free parking area.
Day 6 - 20 May 2022
Content: We closed our day in one of the finest Italian restaurant in Trieste. Food was really excellent, seafood and all fish based meals were delicious. It was quite pricey but the environment and the food was really exceptional! I totally recommend this place if you like fish
