Content: 🧊Arriving at the Ice Hotel🧊 Welcome! Now that you’ve arrived to the hotel let’s guide you through a quick walk through of the place. * Once you get out of the transportation, on your right will be a building where you can check in. It also has a little lounge to have a fika. “Fika” is a Swedish word that means “having a snack and coffee.” Most of the time it’s a little desert like a slice of cheesecake or “Kanelbulle” aka “cinnamon roll.” * Once checked in, exit out of that building and continue walking down toward the big wall of ice. On your right will be another building, there’s only one door to enter from which is a side door. This is another lounge area but much bigger. You can play games, change, leave belongings there, grab snow boots, the warm jumpsuit, whatever it is you like, they have! * Our first night we slept in the actual ice hotel (on an ice bed) so we left all our belongings in the building stated above. They have small rooms where you can keep everything and change in, so don’t lose your key. 🔑

Content: Ice Hotel Finally, it’s time to check out the prized gem that Sweden keeps tucked away in the north!❄️ You’ll want a few hours spent walking through all the rooms, capturing cool pictures, and just to admire all the ice work. I loved every moment of it. 😋 The beds you see are all rooms where those who pay for a night can sleep in. They’re pricy but 100% worth it. The room my boyfriend and I slept in will be shown later on. 🙈🧊❄️

Content: Dinner is Served 🍽 Time to warm up by filling those bellies with luxurious tastes.🤤 *They provide vegan options* At the Ice Hotel, you get to choose what you’ll eat for your three course meal. There’s three options for each; appetizer, main, dessert. (Also one vegan option for each). For my main course I ate reindeer, something you’ll be eating a lot of here!🙈 One thing I love about Swedish food is how they make heavenly sauces and add it to everything! America’s food is was too plain and dry compared to Sweden. 🤪🇸🇪🍽

Content: ❄️Goodmorning from the Ice Hotel room! This is the room my boyfriend and I slept in. It was the human body themed. Inside you’ll see a heart, intestines, and even a brain; all sculpted from ice. 🧊 Later on we’ll all be tested if our ice sculpting skills and truly acknowledge how difficult it actually is! About the Sleeping Arrangement: * The ice hotel remains a permanent structure, usually keeping temperatures between 19 and 23 degrees Fahrenheit. The original ice hotel needs to be resculpted every winter. * We slept in sleeping bags provided by the hotel. (These sleeping bags keep you warm the entire night). * Go to sleep wearing a ski mask to keep your face warm. As well as a beanie. BATHROOM 🚽 In our room we didn’t have a bathroom. Some do provide that, of course if you pay for that type of room. If you needed to use the toilet you’d need to go outside of your room down the hall and to the left.

Content: Ice Sculpting 🧊 One of the many fun activities that the Ice Hotel offers is Ice Sculpting. It sounds insanely difficult, but it wasn’t too bad once you started. I had absolutely no idea what to make so I went with a heart. My boyfriend created a Djurgården trophy, while his sister made a lightening bolt with 2021 engraved on it! Creativity strikes when you least expect it too!😉 Time Duration: * This took between 1-2 hours of our time and was well worth it. Have you ever been able to say you’ve made an ice sculpture? Now you can! 😌❄️🧊

Content: Snow time fun ❄️🤩 Since the sled was to heavy for the snow mobile to safely maneuver down the hill, we had one of two options: slide or walk. Clearly, I chose the child-like way (which was also the best way) and sled down on something that the Swedes always use! It was my first time ever using that little fun toy. Firstly, you need to sit down and properly place it underneath you. Next, hold it with one and the other can be used as a brace for going down the hill. I ended up going down backwards which gave everyone a good laugh. 🤪😂👍

Ahhhh!!!😍 You’re allowed to carry a rope and lead the reindeer around, but be careful of their antlers. They’re just as cute as all the Christmas movies make them out to be. We need a reindeer emoji don’t we?🙈

Content: Dinner time! 🍽 What’s on the menu? Reindeer. 🙈 The Sami people basically ate fried dough with reindeer meat wrapped inside and some lingonberry jam. Lingonberry is a tasty berry, but a little bit bitter found in Sweden. 🇸🇪

Content: ✨Morning beauties✨ What’s on the agenda? Dogsledding! This was my very first time ever to go dog sledding. So here’s a few tips I’ll share with you that the staff shared with us before we started. Tips: - Use the hard brake when going downhill, need to brake suddenly, or when going extremely fast. - use soft brake when on the lake or need to slow down gradually - stay 2 meters behind the person in front of you. - when going around a sharp turn, lean and stand on the opposite side of the sled so you and the sled doesn’t fall over. - if you fall over, stay calm, everyone will stop, and the leader will come help you. ✨ Throughout the adventure, you’ll be going down a few windy trails, some straight always, and even go on a lake! Keep your eyes forward and make sure to keep distance between you and the person in front of you. ✨ The scariest part is the beginning. You go downhill right away and learn how to break, learn how fast it feels, but also understand it’s fun and exhilarating! Enjoy! 😊

Content: Supper time! 🍽 Hmmm what might you be eating you ask? More Reindeer. 🤪 Here we learned more about those who work with the dogs and who’s been running the business and for how long. The lady was fun to talk with and her English is also incredible! By the way, everything is done in English so you don’t have to worry about that. All Swedes are fluent in speaking English.

Content: Snow Mobile Adventure Just before the trip would end, we did a snow mobiling trip to see the Northern Lights. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t right and we never saw them; however, it’s usually common to see the Aurora Borealis when you go. The weather and timing has to be perfect. I got to drive for the first hour up to the little cabin where we warmed up and had some delicious……..reindeer! You guessed it!😜 The trail was windy, bumpy, but super fun! On the way down my boyfriend drove and he tried racing with the leader. I don’t recommend that. 😅 This was by far my favorite activity we did during this trip, since it was my first time. They provide all the gear you need when riding.

Content: Saying Farewell 🥲 I hope this itinerary can spark interest and excitement in the next readily adventurous traveler! Sweden is a gem to spend time in. 💎 I’ve lived there for almost a year in Stockholm, so having that trip up north was quite refreshing! The landscape is completely different with all the surrounding mountains. You can look up “Sweden’s Ice Hotel” on Google and will find the website immediately. I promise you, you won’t want to miss out on a trip like this! ❄️
