Day 1 - 26 Jul 2021
Content: I’m Jennifer, an island girl from the island of Malta, with a gypsy, bohemian soul... attracted by colours and all that is simple, wild and free. I’m here sharing my 6 day itinerary in Paris... not the oh so monumental, busy city life kind of Paris, but rather the colourful, off the beaten track side of it. Day one I arrived at the airport of Orly at 18:00pm, took a taxi to gare de Reuilly Diderot where my Airbnb was, I was staying at Hotel Citadines Bastille Gare de Lyon,Reuilly Diderot is in the 12th arrondissement of Paris,a station on Line 1 and Line 8 of the Paris Métro not far from the Gare de Lyon, from this station, I had found out prior to going that there is this beautiful road full of colourful houses and that was only 178 meters away, or rather a 3 min walk. Lucky me! So after checking in at my Airbnb, I went to gare the Lyon with the metro and walked to rue de Crémieux. When I got there, ohhhh my God, I simply loved this colourful piece of colourful paradise in Paris. I loved the pastel colour houses, the brightly painted doors, and flower pots all along this beautiful street, the boho street... it felt like I’m in a different kind of Paris. I stayed there , chill, walking by the nearby streets and enjoying the vibe. After I ate something at a bistrot in the corner of the street and then as it was getting to night I went back to my Airbnb by metro to call it a day. The Colourful Houses day🌻splendid!
Day 2 - 27 Jul 2021
Content: I am not a morning person, i don’t like stress, so I took it easy and started my second day at 9am 😋 sun was shining and i woke up to visit - Le bois de Vincenne, a beautiful green paradise that stratches to 995 hectares, half of which is trees. this is located in the 12th arrondissement of Paris so from where my airbnb was it was perfect, only some minutes away. I payed 2 euro metro ticket (one way) and the stop is only one metro station away, going down to the Château de Vincennes. From here I could already see the beautiful tall green trees. This green area is beautiful, it was created between 1855 and 1866 by the Emperor Napoleon III. This park is wonderful, it is so big, i spent 2 hours walking through the tall trees and the green lakes and ponds. For those who love nature, this is the perfect spot. Then i set down on the grass and ate a baguette with some Brie cheese that i had carried with me. Delicious! Walking through the park i came across a beautiful Buddhist temple, the Temple d'Amour and the Swiss Chalet. I was told that there is also - The Paris Zoological Park, but since I'm not a fan of zoos I skipped it. To the other end of the park i came to a lovley French royal fortress - The Château de Vincennes, i did not go in, i just went around, took some photos and then headed to Montmartre to see the Sacre Coeur. So from the metro station at Vincennes, i took the metro to Montmartre line A to CHATELET LES HALLES and from Chatlet Line 4 to Château Rouge. The journey took me around half an hour.
Content: From Château Rouge i took a stroll throu beautiful old streets of Montmartre up to - the Basilica of Sacré-Coeur. This beautiful Basilica was built between 1873 and 1919, it is a Catholic holy place and a place of devotion to the Holy Virgin, animated 24 hours a day by the Benedictines du Sacré-Coeur de Montmartre. I stayed here all the afternoon. A touch of history and spirituality added to my trip😊
Content: In the evening i was hungry and being attracted to all that is different, spicy and exotic i was attracted to go to one of the African restaurants close by. I went to - Chez Leonie, 22rue Baudelaire 75018, A tasty Cameroonian restaurant that satisfies all my senses. Sizzling, spicy grilled fish, rice, spicy sauce and plantains - delicious, you just have to try out ! The food takes an hour or so to be served but it is definitely worth the wait. As it was close to midnight I took a cab back to my Airbnb. Delicious ! Wait... am I in Paris or what!?🤪
Day 3 - 28 Jul 2021
Content: Sun is shining and when it shines we shine together 😛 I am not made for the traditional city life Paris, so I decided to go to the outskirts in gournay-sur-Marne to enjoy nature
Content: I found this beautiful worth-it (40€/night) Dépendance with a 45 M² garden just between Paris and Disney on Airbnb. From Gare de Lyon i took the line A and I went down the bry-sur-marne Station, from there i took the bus 220 that took me close to the house address...only a corner away from my house... wait, and what a house, as soon as I saw it I felt my eyes and my smile gettin bigger...my spirit, mind and body were free to roam amidst this beautiful green heaven. Love it💚
Day 3 - 28 Jul 2021
Content: After having lunch I went by foot to this parc. I didn’t know about it before,I was very lucky to find it only 15 minutes away from my Airbnb on google maps. It’s huge... I walked for hours in it, people were swimming in the river, others making picnic, fishing ... beautiful ! I stayed there all the afternoon to evening and then walked back to my Airbnb to get the grill started and make some fish on the bbq😅 let’s say... Gournay made my Day!
Day 4 - 29 Jul 2021
Content: It’s time for Magic 😜 Disney land is very close to my location so today I woke up to feeling like a child again and decided to go and enjoy Disneyland . Before going there I hesitated a bit as I had read some negative reviews before going, however nothing much have changed, understandable measures, inline with the french requirements due to the covid_19, a health pass is required for people who are over 18 years and some rides were closed. But let’s look at the positive side of it... crowds are less and that means less queues for the rides, more rides and more fun in the sun and a better value for the money spent on the entrance ticket😜 The entrance ticket cost me 54euro and it covers almost everything inside the park apart from food and drinks. The parc is open until 8 pm and some rides were closed due to COVID however that didn’t stop me from feeling like a kid once again and I could feel the magic the moment I entered there , I needed it after a stressful year, and most importantly always looking at the bright side of it, I felt safe as there were lots of COVID measures in place.
Day 5 - 30 Jul 2021
Content: Today I decided to take it easy and enjoy the moment in my beautiful Airbnb. So I woke up late, prepared a nice breakfast with Brie, baguette and some pain au chocolat and enjoyed the sun in the garden. After that I went for a walk in my neighbourhood. Beautiful, colourful, peaceful Gournay-sur-Marne I will definitely be back !
Day 6 - 31 Jul 2021
Content: Today I needed to head back to Beauvais airport at 18:00 to catch my flight back home, however I couldn’t go back without tasting another mouthwatering African dish and thus before heading to the airport, I took the bus 220 to Bry-sur-Marne, then the metro line A to Gare Reuilly Diderot and went down at Waly-Fay Senegalese restaurant. The food is OMG!!! I didn’t want it to finish, so tasty and good. I took poulet Yassa and it was delicious! The food doesn’t take long to be served and tap water at the restaurant is free of charge. Magnifique !! From there I went to Beauvais airport with the bus from Porte Maillot. Dear Paris, I will be back to discover more colours and hidden tastes and treasures... à la prochaine !
