Day 1 - 18 Oct 2021
Content: Arriving to Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos in the afternoon. After 1h drive with the metro I arrived to the metro station Kerameikos where my hostel is placed.
Day 1 - 18 Oct 2021
Content: The rooftop with the view of Acropolis attracted me to book this hostel. But even better views can be seen at the places more near to Monastiraki metro. This hostel is located at the tranquile place near Kerameikos metro. Lovely bars surround the hostel. Unfortunately, no breakfast as it's written on the hostelworld.
Content: While searching for the vegan food nearby hostel, I discovered pretty lovely and calm street Triptolemou and its bars. Street art is just amazing. I ask at few bars do they know some vegan food nearby. The little restaurant Treis Laloun has typical greek offers in vegan editions. Gyros was awesome and pretty affordable.
Day 2 - 19 Oct 2021
Content: While searching for Free Tour I couldn't find the gathering place. I asked many locals but nobody just knows, so common in Greece. I was discovering streets of Plaka with many souvenir shops, lovely caffe bars and restaurants. One of them was this stunning caffe Ellyz, all in flowers. Warning: Plaka knows to be pretty crowded. I saw also many shoes in the greek style.
Day 2 - 19 Oct 2021
Content: Stunning caffe near Monastiraki metro amazes with the flower decor. Inside and outside it's so pretty decorated.
Content: Plaka is full of the souvenir shops among which blue eye is the main thing. It shapes towels, jewelry, bags and all kind of souvenirs. Greek shoes also take a special place.
Day 2 - 19 Oct 2021
Content: Just following the hill above Agora after 20 minutes I came to Acropolis. The entrance line was pretty long but the feeling to see this majestic sight so strong. At the sunset Acropolis has the special vibe, it was awesome seeing it in all 3 temples and forum. After Acropolis I went to see the neighbouring hill Agreopagus with awesome view of Acropolis, Athens, sunset and other hills of Athens.
Day 2 - 19 Oct 2021
Content: After visiting Acropolis, I came to the neighbouring hill. The stunning views of Acropolis just delight, but also the stunning views of Athens during the sunset. It's one of the seven hills of Athens.
Day 3 - 20 Oct 2021
Content: Pretty small and hidden church is the place of our meeting of the Free walking tour. It's located near the Syntagma metro.
Content: The huge forrest park in the centre of Athens offers the fabulous walks. The buildings inside used to serve as the lodgement for Olympic competitors.
Day 3 - 20 Oct 2021
Content: Taking The Free Walking Tour which takes 3h, definitely worth it. We start by the church named Sotera Lykodemos and follow the path to the National Gardens. After that we pass the Olympic Stadion and learn a lot about ancient Olympic games and marathon that evolved from Athens. We pass the National Parlament and watch the guard do their traditional Sunday show. The pleasant surprise was to visit the part of Athens that was built in the style of the greek islands- white houses and blue doors.
Day 3 - 20 Oct 2021
Content: Learning about olympic tradition of Athens is legendary. Olympic stadium hosts also the musem
Day 3 - 20 Oct 2021
Content: The sweetest neighbourhood of Athens with the island vibes and white houses. It's located just above Agora.
Day 4 - 21 Oct 2021
Content: Arriving by flight to Santorini accompanied by the amazing views. To make it easy I arranged a pick-up by Thea Apartments in Imerovigli where I stayed 1 night. Amazed with the pool, amazing views and this cave house, I was happy to relax like the queen. I took a walk to Thira, the capital of the island which was only 25 minutes by walk. I was searching for Three bells of Thira and after few wrong directions by locals, I found it in Firostefani. It's located just above the restaurant Mama Thira. After coming back to my room, I enjoyed the views, sunset, taking photos and hot tube. Imerovigli is a quiet place unlike the neighbouring Oia but the views are even more amazing. It was already 8pm so I decided to take the nearest restaurant to take a food. The fact was that all of them are pretty expensive, the small quantity & high price. After checking Avocado restaurant and concluding that I will not get the veggie dinner without onions, I took the adjacent restaurant of the same owner. I enjoyed my spaghetti but the portion was too small, sorry that I didn't take another one with the vegetables- different restaurant.
Content: Amazing cave house at which I stayed one night fascinated me with the pool and views. In the quiet little place Imerovigli this place was such a relax. They even let me used the bath tube from the neighbouring room that was free. Staying in the place like this makes you feel like a queen.
Day 4 - 21 Oct 2021
Content: I was searching for this place in Thira but it's located actually in Firistefani above the restaurant Mama Thira. I asked some locals but they didn't know until some tourists told me.
Day 4 - 21 Oct 2021
Content: As it was already very late, I had to choose the nearby restaurant. They're all pretty expensive in Imerovigli. For one plate of spaghetti I payed 18€ and still stayed hungry.
Day 5 - 22 Oct 2021
Content: After an early awaking, I took some pictures in the neighbourhood and Three bells of Thira again. Enjoying the breakfast with the view, I was sorry to leave this place. 2 hours hike from Thira to Oia will wait for the next time as well as the castle on the hill just across my view.
Day 5 - 22 Oct 2021
Content: The ride from Thira to Perissa took 1 hour despite the fact it's only 8 km (Thira is the main point so I need to change the bus in Thira). Amazed by the peace of my new accomodation near the beach, I was also amazed with the colourful vibe. They even have their own garden and are linked with the vegetarian restaurant across, Tranquilo. I was so sorry to leave this lovely place after 4 nights specially when I found out that they need a volunteer in Tranquilo. Definitely this is more affordable accomodation than Oia or Thira.
Content: Discovering this lovely vegetarian restaurant in Perissa was such a delight. I could sit here for hours and was sorry not to have an extra day just to relax. Amazing decor near the beach is just enchanting. Mostly they offer salads, all of them cost 11€. I had few amazing tortilla style dinners
Day 6 - 23 Oct 2021
Content: Visiting lovely villages Pyrgos and Megalochori was the chance to discover Santorini without crowds. But there were still lot of people who wanted to discover the non-touristic Santorini. Pyrgos with its fabulous views my favourite. The cozy streets full of souvenir shops lead to the ruins of an ancient castle. Wind is stronge here but you can enjoy the coffe bar with the view. Some locals play the traditional greek music at the strrets of Pyrgos. Megalochori with the famous bells is specially beautiful when bougenvilla blooms. I even wanted to visit the Akron Art center where they make traditional greek sculptures but it's a bit away from Megalochori.
Day 6 - 23 Oct 2021
Content: Megalochori is a lovely village away from crowds. You can expect souvenirs, soft walk to the beach and greek domes and bells
Day 7 - 24 Oct 2021
Content: I took the tour from Perissa which included hike to the volcano, thermal baths and island Thirassia. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn about the history and volcanic origin of Santorini. It got the Moon shape by the volcanic eruption. We started with huge pirate boats from the main port Athinios. The first stop was the hike to the active volcano which took 20 minutes up and the same down. The views of caldera and the boats we took were absolutely stunning. The second stop included hot springs but the water was cold. It was only the jump from the boat. Island Thirassia across Santorini was our last stop. We needed to cross many stairs without shadow to get up. Thirassia holds the beautiful church with blue domes, few restaurants and even atm. Near the port we had a chance to grab affordable snacks. Several stunning views of caldera are unbeatable.
Day 7 - 24 Oct 2021
Content: Hot springs were not actually hot, boat stopped inside the water so we were jumping out of boat
Day 7 - 24 Oct 2021
Content: Thirassia is a small island across Santorini. So many stairs to reach the villages on the top, few restaurants shop and lovely church with blue domes. Crystal clear sea and amazing views.
Day 8 - 25 Oct 2021
Content: 7,30 at the end of October was the time to watch amazing sunrise at Perissa. Later on I took the chance to take some photos of this stunning black sand beach. I can only imagine how crowded it is in the main season. The colourful vibes made it one of my new favourite beaches.
Day 8 - 25 Oct 2021
Content: Visiting Oia only in the afternoon is too short. I didn't want to bother myself with locations but spontaneously take some photos. Oia is so instagrammable and I could easily catch images from picture postcards. The crowds are still huge in October and bougenvilla still present. It is such a thrill to visit Oia and just walk along the long boulevard full of souvenir shops and restaurants.
Day 9 - 26 Oct 2021
Content: Flying to Corfu makes me sad to leave Perissa and my new favourite beach, very cheerful beach. I have a ticket and let's go though the whether is pretty rainy at Corfu. My flight takes one hour extra because of the whether, it was uncertain if we shall land or return. Finally, we arrive at Corfu one hour after predicted time. Going to the Santorini airport from Perissa needs precautions as buses at Santorini are always late. Even if I take the earlier bus from Perissa, I have to catch one in Thira.
Day 9 - 26 Oct 2021
Content: Arriving at Pink Palace at Agios Gordios. They have free shuttle from the airport but we needed to wait for the other people. The dinner of buffet style waits till 22h.
Day 10 - 27 Oct 2021
Content: The wheather was pretty rainy and this little hike was uncertain. Finally, in the afternoon it gets better to visit the neighbouring village. The fabulous seaside views accompanied us sometimes and a bit steepy path. After one hour we're arriving to Sinarades from Agios Gordios, the enchantment was high. The colourful houses, the presence of bougenvilla and charming vibes made the day. We decide to take a rest at the main caffe in the village and some of us even took some food. It was quite surprising to find out that the village has the Folklor museum. Rain starts to fall again and we decide to take a taxi which costs 15€ for all.
Day 11 - 28 Oct 2021
Content: Enjoying the fabulous views is the right thing to do as the Sun is up again. That's why I take some photos from the balcony of the Pink Palace.
Content: While walking down to the beach, I notice this cute bar. Unfortunately, it works only in the evening from 19h.
Day 11 - 28 Oct 2021
Content: The whole afternoon is dedicated to exploring Corfu Old town. We arrive with the shuttle bus so we start the Old fortress of Corfu. While enjoying the fabulous views, we wonder is that Albania across. Old and new fortress characterize the Corfu town. We climb up to the top to see even better views.
Day 11 - 28 Oct 2021
Content: Corfu Old Town is pretty colourful place with the Venetian charm. It's something totally different from the usual images of Greece. We enjoy taking pictures, exploring souvenirs and even some ice cream. Finally, we're taking lunch at the restaurant Bougenvilla. They have a bit higher prices and excellent choice of salads. I take the vegetarian musaka but I'm not satisfied with my choice as it's pretty oily.
Day 12 - 29 Oct 2021
Content: Little up the hill we visited the Monastery of Paleokasistra full of bougenvilla and wonderful views. You can buy here some homemade products and traditional souvenirs
Day 12 - 29 Oct 2021
Content: Paleokastritsa village enchants with the incredible colours of its beaches. I took a tour from Agios Gordios with tour agency costing 15€. It's less than an hour away. Our first stop is the Monastery of Paleokastritsa above the village. It's framed with bougenvilla flower which is already gone. Exploring the beaches of my own gives me the total delight. I just enjoy the view, take the photos and some snack. As I have plenty of time till the return at 17h, I take a boat tour to explore the caves. It lasts 45 minutes with the price of 20€. I'm amazed by the wonder of nature but expected also to see some hidden beaches.
Day 12 - 29 Oct 2021
Content: Taking a boat ride to see the caves of Palaiokastritsa. I expected also to see the hidden beaches but we didn't. The ride lasts 45 minutes and costs 20€.
Day 12 - 29 Oct 2021
Content: Goodbye Greece, hopefully I will visit you soon. Taking a ferry to Albania takes only one hour. But unhortunatelly, off season all ferries go at 7am.
