Day 1 - 10 May 2019
Content: We reached Budapest airport by 11 am. The two terminals of the airport are connected by a passage filled with shops. The travel agency at the airport was very helpful to plan our days. We planned for a weekend trip, Hungary is a country which can easily be accessed from the UK and other countries. Budapest is the jewel of Central Europe. The Hungarian capital of Budapest has fast become one of Europe’s must-see destinations.
Content: We checked in to the Orion Hotel Castle Garden. It was easily accessed from the airport, located at the heart of the city. The hotel does not contain any private parking space. The rooms are very old and we could hear the sound from the next rooms. The maintenance was very poor and the service was average. We didn't like the hotel in total.
Content: After some time rest, we headed to Szimpla Kert. It was a very surprising place, located in the courtyard of street buildings. It was a very cool atmosphere we could enjoy drinking beers in a bathtub. We enjoyed the place. We finished our dinner, the food was good. They provide a lot of options to choose from a wide menu.
Day 2 - 11 May 2019
Content: We started our day after having breakfast from a nearby restaurant. We planned the entire day for the visit to local sightseeing. We headed towards Buda Castle.
Content: It was one of the most famous things to do while in Budapest. The palace was very busy and crowded. The palace was situated on the south tip of the castle Hill. The palace complex was very vast, with different complexes and attractions. The complex included the National Gallery, Budapest History Museum, and Military Museum. The National Gallery contains some internationally famous collections. The National Gallery mostly tells the story of Hungary at large, whereas the Budapest History Museum tells the story of its capital. We clicked many historical pictures and headed towards the next destination in the city.
Content: It was a very striking building on the banks of the River Danube in the heart of Budapest. The building was magnificent from the outside and fabulous inside. The ceiling was catchy and the surroundings were made up of beautiful golden decorations and stained glasses. One of the features of the Parliament building is its cooling system which helps to maintains a constant temperature in the building during the hot summers. The entire building was very attractive.
Content: After lunch from a small restaurant, we headed towards St. Stephen's Basilica. It was the largest church in Budapest. The architectural style was amazing and the interior was well designed. The inner side of the church was rich in the visual arts. The walls and pillars were decorated with marble of various breeds. From the dome, we could see the view of Budapest city. The mummified hand of St. Stephen adorned with golden leaves and ruby-pearl bracelets were the most famous thing in the church. By evening we started at Vajdahunyad Castle.
Content: The location of the Vajdahunyad Castle was impressive which gave romantic feelings. It was very famous among people for various festivals, concerts, and exhibitions of the Hungarian Agricultural Museum. We entered the castle through the main entrance with a stone bridge and lion statues. The Gatehouse in the castle displays a photo exhibition that explains the history of Vajdahunyad Castle with archive photos. We got inspired by the style of construction. We got many gothic photos.
Content: Szechenyi Thermal Bath is the most visited and crowded place in Budapest. The place is compressed with a series of indoor thermal pools where temperatures range from warm to hot, steam rooms, saunas, ice-cold plunge pools, and rooms for massage. Some outdoor pools with fountains are also available. It is very necessary to take swimwear, a towel and a pair of flip-flops. When we entered, they provided a watch-shaped electronic bracelet that serves as a key to a cabin where we left our belongings. We plunging into the warm waters and enjoyed the silence. Then we headed back to the hotel.
Day 3 - 12 May 2019
Content: The castle of Eger is the main attraction of the city. The simple stroll around the castle was the best part of the visit. We could explore different bastions and landscapes while walking around the ground. The walk around the castle permits us to visit various buildings and exhibitions. We could understand the importance of the castle of Eger. We entered the castle as soon as it opens so that we could avoid the crowd.
Content: Our next destination was the Church of Anthony of Padua which is located at the southern end of Eger's main square. It was very simple church with much historical importance. We paved a short visit and not much impressive.
Content: It was situated in the centre square in Eger. We could see many people around the square. It was a very social place where we could enjoy some relaxing time. There was a fountain at the entrance of the square that created a real refreshing mood. The buildings around the square were impressive and we could spend some valuable time. We had some snacks and headed towards our next destination.
Content: It is a church in the classical style. We could not able to enter the church, very disappointed. We could inspire by the exterior architectural style. We clicked many pictures and relaxed for a few hours having some snacks.
Content: Eger is a unique place in Hungary. It owns dozens of wineries, each of which operates a small cellar in the Valley of the Beautiful Women where you can pop in and try some local specialities for dirt cheap. We could find wines of all colours, a really amazing place to enjoy. The Valley of the Beautiful Women is the home to many famous restaurants and pubs. Kodmon Csarda and the Kulacs Csarda are the most recommended places. Both of them are excellent for the ambience and taste of foods. We enjoyed the foods, tasted well. Then we returned back to Budapest and overnight stay.
Day 4 - 13 May 2019
Content: We checked out from the Orion Hotel Castle Garden and checked in to the Baross Boutique Apartment, Gyor. Gyor is a European city located in Northwest Hungary. It is a charming village with vast meadows and forested hills. We booked rooms at the Baross Boutique Apartment which is located in the city center. The rooms were excellent with good service. We dropped our luggage and headed to explore the city. We grab meals from the hotel itself.
Content: It was a very charming building in the neoclassical style. It was located in the centre of the city, the most famous landmark in the city. The beauty of the building was hidden behind the colossal doors. The most exquisite staircase and enormous marble sculptures gave the feel of the classical age. We spend some time to explore the beauty of the building and headed towards our next destination, Szechenyi Square.
Content: Szechenyi Square is very amazing and lively with people. The square was filled with lots of restaurants and attractive buildings. We saw the large white baroque building on Szechenyi Square as part of the Benedictine Monastery and Grammar School. The Column of St Mary is located in the middle of Szechenyi Square. Dunakapu Square was located very close to Szechenyi Square.
Content: We had lunch from a restaurant which served many varieties of Hungarian dishes. We had Goulash which was one of the most famous dishes from the Hungarian culinary. It was very good in taste and presentation. We came across Vienna Gate Square, classic cobblestone streets, and the Carmelite Church.
Content: Another amazing church visited in Hungary was the Carmelite church in Gyor. It was very attractive with the blazing yellow baroque Italian exterior and ascending the onion-domed tower. The dome was painted with various biblical stories. The main attraction of the church was the statue of the Virgin Mary with a stained glass window. They allowed us to capture those paintings and the beauty of the church.
Content: We reached Gyor Synagogue. It was a gray dome stand on the backdrop of an industrial landscape. We felt nothing more interesting. We spend some relaxing time wandering around the building.
Content: We had an amazing dinner from the Komedias Etterem. They offered a very cozy and pleasant environment. The menu was very different for us. Jokai soup was excellent in taste. The food was really good and their service was excellent. After dinner, we returned to the hotel.
Day 5 - 14 May 2019
Content: After breakfast, we headed to Raba-Quelle Kft. It was a superb bathing facility in the middle of Gyor city. It was the best place to enjoy some relaxing time in pools. It includes several pools with thermal water. There is enough pool to choose from inside and outside as well as slide and dark pool. We had meals from the restaurant which was a little bit costly. We spend most of the day and headed back to the hotel.
Content: We checked out of the hotel and headed to our next destination. The hotel staff helped us to book a cab. The service was good.
Day 5 - 14 May 2019
Content: We entered into the Keszthely, another famous city in Hungary. We checked into Guest House Moritz. It was located on a quiet street. The hotel environment was family-friendly and the staff treated very politely. The rooms are spacious with a TV and a refrigerator. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. They offered a wide variety of seafood.
Day 6 - 15 May 2019
Content: After breakfast, we headed to explore the city. It is a large town located on the banks of Lake Balaton. It was a perfect holiday destination.
Content: Our first destination in the city was the Festetics Palace, one of the most visited places. The Festetics Palace is one of the most beautiful baroque palaces of Hungary. It was a very impressive place with many halls. We saw a private library with a unique collection of old books. The royalty of the Festetics family was reflected in each and every object in the palace. The Festetics family was progressive, wealthy landowners who founded several hospitals and schools. We got impressed with the architectural style of the building.
Content: We ended our day with a romantic walk around Lake Balaton. It was a freshwater lake located in the western end. It was also known as the Hungarian Sea. There are many small restaurants surrounded. We could see many swan swimming in the water. We felt very calm and relaxed while walking in a pleasant environment.
Content: We finished our dinner from Sailing Bistro and returned to the hotel. We enjoyed our dinner in a quiet atmosphere. The food was good at a reasonable price. We ordered fish, they served whole fried fish. It was very crispy outside and juicy inside. The ambience was great with good services.
Day 7 - 16 May 2019
Content: The first destination of the day was Lake Cave Tapolca. Tapolca is a small town northwestern shore of Lake Balaton. It was surrounded by Basalt hills. We could visit the unique underground world in Tapolca while visiting the lake cave situated in the center of this small town. The water found there was warm with a unique experience. The experience underneath was amazing.
Day 7 - 16 May 2019
Content: We returned to Keszthely and visited the Balaton Museum. It was the best and most visited museum in the city. It is the most historical, and archaeological place. The ground floor is known as a stone store. It was not very large but provided many pieces of information about history. There was a huge aquarium on the first floor surrounded by many rooms. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, a series of high-quality periodical exhibitions with interesting themes were presented.
Content: We had dinner from Molo Terasz. The food was good and the ambience was great. We waited for 30 mins, but they served food quickly. The food was good but they used too much of oils.

Content: After breakfast, we checked out from the hotel and headed towards Budapest.

Content: We took about 2.30 hours journey to reached the airport. We enjoyed our entire trip. The airport was clean with necessary facilities. We waited for 2 hours there to catch our flight.
