Content: We arrived at Keflavik International Airport around 7am. We recommend picking up alcohol that you would like to drink throughout your trip at the duty free store. It is much cheaper than other spots. We chose to rent a car for this first day. We rented it through Procar.

Content: We headed to the Blue Lagoon straight from the airport. The lagoon is not far away. We suggest that you either plan to eat at their cafeteria or The Retreat - nice hotel right next door. They have a continental breakfast for around $25 USD. 9:00AM is the time that the lagoon opens, so it was nice to be there before the crowds!

Content: We then drove and checked into our hostel, Kex Hostel, and took a short nap. Kex has dorm room style rooms with shared bathrooms, and awesome communal hang out spots.
Content: We then spent a few hours walking around and exploring the city of Reykjavik. It is super easy to get around the city by foot as it is not very big.
Content: Kex happened to be having a party that night, so we ate food at the hostel. We then enjoyed a night out on the town. We recommend visiting Den Danske Kro and Kaffibarinn. Night lift does not start really until midnight!
Day 2 - 17 Jul 2021
Content: Spend the morning dropping off your rental car, picking up your van, going to the grocery store, and heading to the volcano. We began the hike at 2PM and ended around 8PM. Go as far as you can hike in. Suggest bringing snacks to enjoy the views!

Content: Head the the amazing diamond beach to see chunks of iceberg all over a black sand beach
Content: Take a kayak tour on Jokulsarlon - an amazing glacier lagoon with massive icebergs. An amazing experience. Make sure you book it in advance, it fills up quickly!

Content: Make dinner at this gorgeous waterfall! There’s a picnic table where you can cook and enjoy this view.

Content: Drive to Egilsstadir! There are two campground here to stay at. We recommend the only closer to the river.

Content: Begin your day at Studlagil Canyon! Plan to be up early so you can hike down into the canyon.

Content: Visit Dettifoss - the most powerful waterfall in Europe! It is best to go on the east side in our opinion.

Content: Drive to the town of Husavik and enjoy a nice dinner at Gamli Bakur! It has a great view of the marina and the food was super delicious

Content: Start your morning in Akuyeri! Enjoy one of the coffee shops or breakfast locations. Stroll around the city. This is one of our favorite towns in Iceland!

Content: End your day at Krauma. It is powered by Europe’s most powerful hot spring and has a variety of different temperature springs to try!

Content: Spend the morning enjoying Thingvellir National Park! You will learn about the history of Iceland and be able to stand where the tectonic plates meet.
