Day 1 - 17 Aug 2021
Content: we arrived at the Venice station by train in the late afternoon, the train is an excellent way to reach Venice, I recommend you to use it.
Content: We took a 20 minute walk to get to our hotel
Content: We checked into our beautiful hotel. It is a bit expensive, but the elegant rooms and the wonderful view of the Rialto Bridge are absolutely worth it. Our room as you can see in the video is one of the largest I've ever had in a hotel, the furnishings are extremely elegant and in Venetian style and the staff is really very kind.
Day 2 - 18 Aug 2021
Content: We started our day at the Rialto bridge which is a short walk from our hotel. It is one of the four bridges that crosses the Grand Canal and by far the most impressive
Content: We roamed about the beautiful city and look for some souvenirs at the local shops. We found these impressive mask in many of them and in some of them the shopkeepers have told us that they are handmade with papier-mâché
Content: After having lunch in a local restaurant we headed to the Scala del Bovolo, the cost of the ticket to go up is 7€, but we preferred to see it only from the outside.
Content: For dinner we decided to eat in the rialto area, on the shore closest to the San Marco district. We chose a restaurant with affordable prices, we ate spaghetti with cuttlefish ink, spaghetti with shrimp and zucchini, a fried fish two Coca-Cola and two bitters and we spent € 60in total.
Day 3 - 19 Aug 2021
Content: After a perfect breakfast in the room we started exploring the San Marco district
Content: After a little queue we entered the beautiful basilica of San Marco. Tip: Admission costs three euros and to enter you must have your shoulders and legs covered.
Content: Riva degli Schiavoni is right next to Piazza San Marco. It is one of the most Instagrammable spots in Venice, make sure to take some great pictures here.
Content: The bridge of sighs is so called because the prisoners passed over this bridge knew it would be their last day of life, for this reason they sighed.
Content: We met Riccardo and decided to take a gondola ride, beware that a gondola ride costs € 80 during the day, € 100 for the evening ride. He gave us a little discount otherwise we probably wouldn't have had this experience. It was truly a unique emotion and I would like to recommend it to anyone visiting Venice.
Day 4 - 20 Aug 2021
Content: We took the ferry n^ 14 to reach Burano. The ticket price is 7,5€ and it’s about an hour ride.
Content: We spend all day in Burano. It is a unique island, the houses are all of different colors because long time ago the fishermen of the village used the colors to recognize their home when they returned from work.
Content: This is the only house different from the others on this island, if you come here, stop and take some shots.
Day 5 - 21 Aug 2021
Content: This is one of the few shipyards in Venice where gondolas are still built and repaired by hand. we went there on Sunday for this reason there was no one at work.
Content: We went to see the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute but unfortunately the exterior was all under reconstruction, so we took a ferry back to Piazza San Marco, this costs € 2 per person and looks a lot like a gondola but with two gondoliers.
Content: We returned to our hotel to relax a bit and get ready for the evening
Content: we went up to this terrace which has a great view over the Grand Canal and the Rialto. The best thing of this terrace is that it’s completely free, I recommend you book tickets online in advance because only a limited number of people can go up every quarter of an hour and it is always very full. We have seen a lot of people go away because they hadn't booked.
Day 6 - 22 Aug 2021
Content: The acqua alta bookshop is a must see in Venice and every photographer's paradise. There are books everywhere, even in a gondola, in some boats and in large basins. The books are all for sale and the bookshop, although touristy, is more authentic than ever. Tip: if you want to take some nice pictures go as soon as it opens and make sure to take some pictures on the large scale of books, a very unique place.
Content: Another 20 minutes walk to the train station, bye bye Venice! LAST TIP: if you are good walkers you can do this itinerary even in 3/4 days, Venice is not very big and the ferries to get around are quite expensive. We preferred to take a hotel in the center and walk around the city, but to be honest we walked 44km 🤪 so wear comfortable shoes
