Content: An adress to note if you’re looking for a cheap (but very good) place to eat and to discover some specialities of Palerme
Content: The chapel inside the palace is just unique to see ! The details are everywhere and dates back to the Middle Age. Unfortunately the royal apartments were closed during our visit.
Content: We visited this nice park in Palerme. Next to it you can also see the port of Palerme. It was a nice walk but I wouldn’t classify it as a must-see. I wanted to visit the botanical garden next to it but when I saw an overview, I definitely thought it was not worth it and it seemed not maintained, so I skipped the visit.
Content: To have a beautiful landscape, I would definitely recommend this site. 100% worth it !

Day 8 - 22 Mar 2022
Content: We actually fly to Paris the next day but very early. Here are some tips if you plan a trip to Sicily : ▪️ This trip was made during March. We did not have high temperature and consequently we did not have any time at the beach. Let’s be honest, it will be difficult to follow this road trip during summer as the temperatures are very high. In Summer, I will recommend you to choose to explore either the East or the West of the island. ▪️ We rent our car with the company Sicily rent car. We picked up the car in the airport of Catane and let it in the airport of Palermo. ▪️As in others many countries, you have to have a credit card and not a debit card to rent a car in Sicily. With the company Sicily rent car, you can rent with a debit card. However the car insurance was extremely high (we had to choose different things to insure), we only had the third-party insurance. Fortunately, nothing bad happened during our trip. ▪️ Driving in Sicily sucks. The speed limit is not respected. People are mostly driving and phoning. However the road are fine as they are many large axes. ▪️ To park in Sicily is not always easy, we never find free parking (we also preferred to pay than to search a park place for a long time) : you will have to plan a budget for the parking. ▪️ The worst city to drive or to park is definitely Palerme. For the 1st night we parked in a little garage for 25€ (only the night) and we had to leave the key. We were not confident. The next day, we found the best option to park in Palerme. In this parking, you can park for 24 hours for 15€. Save the adress : Parcheggio Porto Palermo : Parking Pier Saint Lucia ▪️Before driving to a city, note that there are ZTL zones meaning you cannot drive there unless you have a pass. Usually center city are concerned. Unfortunately we were not aware of it (it is not very well indicated), but they place security cameras to then send you the fees that be up to 100 euros even after your trip.
