The Arco della Pace (Arc de Triomphe du Simplon or Arc de la Paix) is a monument designed by the architect Luigi Cagnola. Begun in 1807, during the Napoleonic era, it was completed in 1838. It resembles many others, notably that of Triomphe in Paris but also that of NY (beginning of 5th avenue) or that of Barcelona whose name also escapes me. The bas-reliefs represent historical events such as the Battle of Leipzig, the foundation of the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia, the Congress of Vienna or even mythological characters such as Mars, Minerva, Apollo and Nike.
