Day 1 - 14 Jul 2020
Content: Have breakfast at the famous Pasticceria Giovanni Scaturchio. Here you'll find all kind of napolitan pastries. Try here also a rum baba, which is a delicious sponge cakes soaked in a sticky, citrus-scented boozy syrup.
Content: Our hotel was situated in the historical center, not far from every main sites. Everything was good, and our hotel host was very friendly. I highly recommend that accommodation.
Content: Naples, a city that you like or don’t like. We have found the city a lot of charm from the city’s heritage, its architectural richness, the warmth of its inhabitants, its Neapolitan cuisine and the Vesuvius. The first thing we did when we arrived, is a walk through the historical quarter of Naples. Our first stop was San Gregorio Armeno street. This is a charming historic shopping street. Not far from there you walk through the Spaccanapoli. Spaccanapoli is the name of one of the main and liveliest thoroughfares in the historic center of Naples. The name derives from the fact that it sharply divides the city between north and south.
Content: After that, we walk along the church of Santa Chiara. This is the largest Gothic church in Naples. Situated on the ‘Piazza del Gesù Nuovo‘ and opposite the Church of Jesus, it was included in the adjacent Poor Clares Convent.
Content: This is the commercial street of Naples. Here we had a quick lunch.
Content: It's certainly, the most authentic part of Naples. Explore that district in the day. It is not recommended passing there by night.
Content: We decided to have walk to have a panoramic view of the city. So we hiked to the Belvedere san Martino via Naples stairs. The stairways of Naples are ancient pedestrian paths that connect the hills with the center and the coast. Consisting of 414 steps, running along the slope of the Vomero hill, and connects Naples historical center. You will get an amazing view once up there! You can also take the funicular in order to access it more quickly.
Content: Once we went back down we walk through the galleria Umberto. This is a public shopping gallery and closely resembles the ‘Galleria Vittorio Emmanuelle II’ in Milan.
Content: It's a large public square in the center of Naples.
Content: To end our day we walked along the coast and passed by the Castel dell’Ovo, which is located on the Naples coastline. This is the oldest standing fortification in the city. It has a nice sight with view over the harbor.
Content: In the evening it's was time to try a typical napolitan pizza. You cannot leave Naples without trying a pizza. So for dinner, we went to the pizza's of Gino e Toto Sorbillo. These are the best pizza's in town!
Day 2 - 15 Jul 2020
Content: I stayed at Le Terrazze hotel, which is fantastic in terms of price/quality. I really enjoyed the view from our room, the friendly staff, and the hotel facilities. At the reception of the hotel, they also have a big terrace where you can enjoy a sea view and a view over the Vesuvius Vulcano. The hotel is situated in the hills, about 15 min drive from the center of Sorrento, but they have daily shuttles every hour for free! The staff shared with us a lot of tips for restaurants, and activities around. We really recommend you that place.
Content: We stayed in Sorrento for our 5 days on the Amalfi Coast. There are some reasons why we opted for Sorrento. Sorrento is the official starting point of the Amalfi Coast and the easiest town to reach. Sorrento is also much less expensive than the towns around the coast, and you will get more facilities for that price. Get lost in the streets of Sorrento and taste some limoncellos in the local shops.
Content: Get lost in Sorrento’s little streets and walk to the Villa Comunale Garden, where you will have a splendid view over the sea and on the Vesuvius.
Content: Walk to ‘Il Vallone dei Mulini’, which is a deep mountain cleft that dates from a volcanic eruption.
Content: Swim in the natural pool of Bagni della Regina Giovanna.
Content: La Grotelle, is a farmhouse restaurant. The owner of our hotel recommended us that place. That is in my opinion the best restaurant I have done in Italy. The staff is amazing, and the food is awesome. Almost everything is homemade, and all the fruits and vegetables comes from their garden.
Day 3 - 16 Jul 2020
Content: Positano is in my opinion one of the most beautiful villages of the Amalfi Coast. You will need about 2 hours to visit the town. Get lost in the small alleys of Positano and reach the principal beach of Positano
Day 3 - 16 Jul 2020
Content: We recommend you the Fornillo beach, just behind the corner of Positano. ‘Fornillo Beach’ is the second largest beach of Positano and can be reached on foot via a characteristic road that starts from the Spiaggia Grande di Positano, or by sea starting from the same pier.
Day 4 - 17 Jul 2020
Content: On the road to Amalfi, we passed through Praiano, which is a cute little town with a beautiful church.
Day 4 - 17 Jul 2020
Content: This is another beautiful town of the Amalfi Coast where you can easily spend 2 more hours. It is the largest town along the coast and one of the most popular towns to stay in after Positano. We recommend you to get lost in its little streets.
Content: If you are looking for a small meal for lunch, we recommend you la Tramontina. It is a typical sandwich shop with local food.
Day 4 - 17 Jul 2020
Content: Ravello is another little typical town of the coast. It is a tiny village that sits back from the coast, perched at the top of a cliff overlooking the sea. To get there you will pass into the hills of the coast, as it is a bit remote from the main road. I really enjoyed Ravello. It is much less crowded than the famous Amalfi and Positano towns. One of the things to do is to visit the Villa Ruffolo.
Day 4 - 17 Jul 2020
Content: On the way back, we stopped at the famous Fiordo di Furore.
Day 5 - 18 Jul 2020
Content: We planned a whole day in Capri and decided to do a boat excursion that the hotel recommended us. The company is called Lubrense boat, which we highly recommend. It is a family company, the staff was really kind, and on top of that we had a good explanation about the Capri during our boat trip. After our boat tour, we finally stopped at the little port of Capri, which is called, Marina Piccola for about 4 hours free time. 1 or 2 hours more hours would have been better, because if you planned to go to Anacapri as well 4 hours is a bit of a rush.
Day 5 - 18 Jul 2020
Content: Things to do in Capri 1) Walk around the little streets of Capri. 2) Visit the Giardini di Augusto. 3) Gaze Out with the Sphinx of the Villa San Michele. 4) Visit Anacpari and take the Monte Solaro lift.
