Day 1 - 5 Jul 2021
Content: I’m from the island of Malta, Malta is the smallest island in Europe, in summer it’s super hot and thus the only place to be is in the water. Luckily we are surrounded by it 😋 In this blog I’ll share with you how I spent my birthday week... and when it comes to suggesting the best places, activities, food etc... who better than a local 🤪 A Maltese as they call us! if you plan to coming here, check that you have the appropriate adapter as our electrical ports here are 3pin!
Day 1 - 5 Jul 2021
Content: I’m a bohemian soul, lover of life, beauty and all that is old and unique, so for celebrating my 37 years, I chose this unique, beautiful typical Maltese old house of character that was beautifully converted into a boutique hotel. Rooms are lovley, so unique and original in style and it’s only 2 minutes away from the airport in the quiet village of Gudja, it’s super for a quiet stay in a typical Maltese house, designed to give travellers a memorable homestay. If You are like me and you find ‘normal’ a little... boring then this is the place to be!
Day 1 - 5 Jul 2021
Content: From there with car I went to xrobb l ghagin a beautiful beach with Crystal clear water. It’s off the beaten track at the fishing village of Marsaxlokk in the south east of the island. From my Airbnb it was only 15min away by car. It’s truly beautiful when you get there, like a lost paradise... no Sandy beaches but beautiful white rocks and crystal clear waters... a bliss not to miss !
Content: From xrobb l ghagin bay, I went by car to the centre of the village of Marsaxlokk-a small, traditional fishing village in the South East of Malta, full of beautiful, colourful Maltese fishing boats and the best restaurants for a typical fish dish. I went to Cafe the Paris, it’s my favourite, fish is fresh and yes sooooo tasty, plates so big and full, a great value for money and a beautiful view of the harbour. Highly recommended, the best fish in the dish !!
Day 2 - 6 Jul 2021
Content: Temperature is 40degrees so today I decided to spend the day at the most blue, clear, beautiful beach in Malta, yes... I know you know it, the blue lagoon at the island of comino. I took the comino ferry boat from the terminal at cirkewwa, 13€ with return included. The shuttle boats between Malta and comino leave every hour... without any doubt I took the last one at 18:00 to come back to Malta. Why hurry when you’re in paradise! Once in the island don’t just stay at the blue lagoon, if you hike for an hour or so you can see all of the island. This is the smallest of the 3 maltese islands, 3.5 square kilometres in area. Fun in the Sun ☀️
Day 3 - 7 Jul 2021
Content: Happy Birthday to me and cheers to life. Today I decided to take it slow, so I woke up to a delicious breakfast which in agreement to COVID-19 protocols is served by the owners of the Boutique Hotel themselves and then I just chilled by the pool. Cheers to life 🌻
Day 3 - 7 Jul 2021
Content: In the evening I had a table booked with my friends at Chukkas, one of the best steak houses in Malta and that’s why I chose this place to celebrate my birthday. It’s open air with the beautiful view of the Mosta Cathedral. An Excellent Dinner with all my friends in the open air coupled with an excellent meal and very good service ... with the cherry on the cake- my chocolate birthday cake! A taste of perfection! I suggest to book in advance, as it has become very popular and when full with bookings no more people are allowed! Good mood for food 😋
Day 4 - 8 Jul 2021
Content: Malta is made up of 3 small islands, Malta, comino where the blue lagoon is and Gozo. Today I walked to the airport and from there I took the direct bus X1 to cirkewwa. The ferry to the island of Gozo leaves from cirkewwa. You don’t pay the ticket when you go, but coming back and it costs 4.50€. Gozo is beautiful, it’s my favourite of the 3 Maltese islands and if you plan to stay longer in Malta it would be best to stay a minimum of 3days in Gozo, there’s buses or taxis that go around this beautiful island. During this day I went to dwejra village for a swim and in the evening to Xlendi one of the best places for sunsets as you can see in the photo here. Other places I recommend would be tal mixta cave, wied il ghasri and ramla l hamra for a beautiful beach with golden sands. The beautiful capital city of Victoria is a must see. Truly beautiful. This very old capital city is full of stunning views of the island of Gozo and has years of history in the making.
Day 5 - 9 Jul 2021
Content: Staying in Talbot and Bons Boutique Hotel makes it easy to arrive to the village of Zurrieq , located in the southeast area of the island, where you can see the beautiful Blue Grotto, go down to the bay to get on a local boat trip to the coast and underneath the Grotto. It’s also a beautiful and popular diving and snorkelling spot, with very clear, clean and deep waters. It’s a beautiful small fishing village and close by (10min) by walk there’s also two beautiful temples to visit- Mnajdra and Hagar Qim, both sites are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. These temples date back to a date between 3800 – 2200 BC; a period known as the Ġgantija phase in Maltese prehistory. The walk from one temple to the other is amazing and if you stay there till sunset (yes I’m a sunset lover 😜) the sun sets just to this side of the island... beautiful golden views ❤️ Yes Malta is small, but a small jewel in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. I wouldn’t recommend visiting the island during the month of august as it gets super hot and it’s full of tourists but June, July and September would be ideal . A small paradise not to be missed !
