Content: The first beach we wanted to visit was Tres Irmaos beach, one of the best and most famous one in Algarve! You can find it in Alvor and it’s famous for its stunning rock formations and the many hidden caves that can be explored. Praia dos Três Irmãos means beach of the three brothers. This name was given because of the characteristic three rocks on the beach, which are the ‘three brothers’. The beach has beautiful soft sand. It feels amazing to walk here barefoot. I absolutely loved this beach!! These cliffs and rocks on the beach give shelter and shadow, which can be nice when it is really warm. However, always watch out, because there is the danger of rockfall. Don’t stay right underneath the cliffs.

It is the southwesternmost point of Portugal and of mainland Europe. It’s just amazing! At sunset you can almost hear the hissing as the sun hits the sea. A red lighthouse houses a small but excellent museum showcasing Sagres' role in Portugal’s maritime history. Always carry a sweatshirt with you because there is always a lot of wind!

It’s considered by the Michelin Guide as one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Europe and as one of the 100 most beautiful beaches in the world. The beach itself is fairly small and sandy, and orange limestone cliffs border this famous beach. Praia da Marinha is not only famous for its cliffs, but also for the quality of its crystal clear water! Before descending down the long staircase to the beach, take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the surrounding landscape from the vantagepoint on top of the cliff and take a pic of the famous heart shape!

Benagil Cave is a majestic sea cave formed by three openings: two arches of about 50 meters which overlook the ocean and a third circular crack with a diameter of about 20 meters perfectly situated at the top like a sort of skylight with natural sun rays beaming through. There is a strip of golden sand beach of over 100 meters which is a small paradise immersed in one of the most unique settings in the world. It’s considered one of the most beautiful and evocative natural places on the planet! ☞ The Grotto of Benagil is reachable only by sea and it can only be visited during low tide.

It may sound fantastical, but at Praia do Carvalho, the fantasy comes to life! This is a quite small beach, surrounded by steep cliffs. The combination of size and scenery gives the beach a magical and romantic feel. Praia do Carvalho is also known for its soft, golden sand and crystal clear water. This beach is definitely less crowded than most of the other beaches nearby. This makes the beach perfect for those who want to get away from the crowded beaches that you can find in other parts of the Algarve.

This true wonder of nature consists of a series of rocks and rugged caves, sculpted for hundreds of years by the wind, and with natural pools of incredibly blue water. The holes in the rocks give them the appearance of windows and balconies. It is at Algar Seco that you find the famous rock formation known as “Boneca” (“the doll”). This is a rock shaped like an inverted cone which looks a little like a doll when seen from the sea. Ten steps below, sits the entrance to one of the famous tunnels at Algar Seco.
