Content: I arrived in Faro in the late morning. First I took a walk around the city centre to admire the pretty buildings covered in tiles. It’s also possible to go to the beach.
Content: My reason to visit Faro was this little chapel covered in human bones, located at the back of the church of Nossa Senhora do Carmo.
Content: I stayed for one night at Tilia Hostel, a very cozy hostel with a terrace and close to the centre.

Content: I checked out of the hostel and took a bus to the city of Évora, which took about 3 hours.

Content: The first thing I did in Évora was to take a walk in the little streets of the city centre.

Content: My main reason to go to Évora was to see another chapel covered in human bones. The Bone Chapel in Évora is even more impressive and creepier than the one in Faro.
Content: In Évora I stayed for one night at Hostel Raymundo in the city centre.

Content: In the morning I checked out of the hostel and went to Lisbon by bus, which took about 2 hours.

Content: As soon as I arrived in Lisbon I took a walk in the city centre to admire the pretty streets and colourful architecture.

Content: I visited the Convento do Carmo, the ruins of a convent that was destroyed by an earthquake. Located in the centre of Lisbon, it also includes a small archaeological museum.
Content: I ended the day at Miradouro de Santa Luzia, one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Lisbon.
Content: I stayed at Rodamon Lisboa, a beautifully decorated and cozy hostel in the centre of Lisbon.

Content: I had breakfast at the hostel.
Content: On my second day in Lisbon I visited the Museu Nacional do Azulejo (National Museum of Tiles). Tiles are Portugal’s most famous type of decorative art, and this museum shows all kind of tiles in a beautiful setting.

Content: Later I walked to the Mosteiro de São Vicente de Fora, a dreamy convent covered in blue azulejos everywhere, and with a stunning view of the city from the terrace.

Content: I checked out of the hostel and when to Sintra by train, which took about 30 minutes.

Content: Sintra is truly a fairytale dream. Most tourists only come to Sintra for a day trip from Lisbon, but I recommend staying at least a few days, as it has a lot to offer. On the first day I visited the Pena Palace, the colourful and most famous castle in Sintra.
Content: After visiting the castle I went hiking in the surrounding national park before walking down to my hostel.
Content: I stayed at Nice Way Sintra Hostel, a very cozy and quaint hostel with a garden.
Day 6 - 1 Oct 2019
Content: I had breakfast at the hostel.
Content: On the second day in Sintra I visited the Quinta da Regaleira, an enchanting mansion with a garden filled with grottoes, fountains and hidden passages.
Content: In the afternoon I hiked to the Castelo dos Mouros, a ruined castle with spectacular and vertiginous views all around.

Content: In the morning I had breakfast at the hostel.

Content: On the last day in Sintra I walked all the way to the Convento dos Capuchos, a hidden monastery that looks like a village for hobbits. It is located about 5 km from Sintra. It was a long but beautiful walk through nature to get there and back.

Content: I spent one last night at the hostel, and the next day I went by train and bus to Lisbon airport to fly back home.
