Content: Our next stop upon arrival in Belgrade was the beautiful St. Sava Temple which sits on top of the Vračar plateau, and holds a prominent position in the skyline of the Serbian capital. This beautiful big Serbian Orthodox Church is surrounded by gorgeous water fountains that light up at night and beautiful greenery. It is a beacon of spirituality, culture, faith and freedom. We were amazed at the interior design of this church and even more amazed at the detail that went into constructing not only the church itself but the golden crypt on the lower level. The golden crypt is made out of pure and real gold as well as, it is one of the most visited spots of the church by tourists. We spent our afternoon/evening walking around this beautiful area and grabbing a nearby coffee. There are so many coffee shops around that you can choose from but we went to Cafe&Factory 2 and it was delicious!

Content: On our third day we decided to check out the National Museum in Belgrade. I remember coming here as a kid but never going inside so this was the perfect opportunity to check out what it has to offer. We spent two hours inside and it was wonderful. From paintings that were created centuries ago to modern art, there was so much to see. This museum holds Serbian tradition and culture to its highest regard. The modern art section has a blank book where anyone that comes through can sign and write their own personal message. People from all over the world signed in this book along with myself. The building itself is super clean and the staff are extremely welcoming, but what surprised me the most was that they allowed picture taking of their displays and beautiful art. This is one place I would recommend when coming to Belgrade because it paints the perfect pictures of Serbia’s culture and history over the years.

There is a beautiful lookout of the city of Belgrade here at the top where the statue resides and it is even more stunning at night. We spent about an hour walking around the park, going to the lookout, taking photos and enjoying the scenery. The park is very clean accompanied with small little kiosks where souvenirs and street food is sold. The Kalemegdan fortress is also within vicinity with cool bars and restaurants to go to at night.

It was open in August of 1986 to celebrate a thousand years of Hungarian Settlements in the Pannionian Plain. It is one of the top touristic attractions in Belgrade and is a place covered in cobblestones and historic buildings. While we were here, there were tons of people doing wedding photo shoots, engagements and travel shoots. When you climb up the steps you get a panoramic view of the city overlooking the Danube river. Such a great place to visit and the people here are extremely friendly.

They play a wide range of music and even have live bands later on in the evening. We ordered the traditional Serbian Šopska salad and for our main course we had home style cut fries & chicken with a mushroom sauce drizzled on top. The food was absolutely delicious and we cannot wait to go back. If you’re looking for true authentic eats in Belgrade this is the place to go. It feels as if you are in someone’s home and the experience is pleasant.

Content: On our second last day we spent most of the day packing but we made sure to go outside and explore a little bit more of Belgrade in the late afternoon. We went to a neighbourhood called “Dedinje” which is one of Belgrade’s most expensive neighbourhoods to live in. You can find extravagant houses here, such as this one pictured - where diplomats, actors, singers and fashion artists live. What truly amazed me is how much these people take the time to take care of their gardens, lawns and homes. Everything is in tip top shape. The beauty of these places is breathtaking and you feel like a movie star walking through this quaint little neighbourhood. There are also restaurants near by that offer traditional Serbian foods and steaks. One restaurant in particular named “Hyde Park” is a go to for people in this locale and anyone who is visiting as well.

Piano Loco

Belgrade, Piano Loco

Content: On our last and final day here we spent the day relaxing and then going out to one last dinner before we returned back home. If you haven’t heard of Piano Loco in Belgrade I’m about to put you on one of the best locales in the city. From delicious pasta to mouthwatering pizza, this is the place to go. My favorite was the Diavola pizza. The dough was fresh and made in-house. The ingredients were locally sourced and the cheese was to die for!! This restaurant has a hidden garden patio as their entrance and their interior is beautifully designed. I make sure to go here every year when I visit family and I sure hope that you will have the same experience coming here. The owner has a couple of other locales in the city which are well renowned and respected. Such a wonderful place to have lunch/dinner and it won’t disappoint, I promise you. This place is calling all you pizza and pasta lovers!!
