Content: We are big road trips lovers and we planned to go visit Scotland by car for a long time. This trip was a bit last minute planned as we originally had it all planned and booked earlier however we had to cancel due to getting ill. However we decided to still go one day before and next morning we were on the car with only 3 first nights booked and not much planning. Just freedom and go with a flow! We are experienced travellers and we can be spontanious however if you go to Scotland, especially North Coast 500 route - I recommend to plan and book all your stays in advance as accommodation here is quite limited and gets booked fast. Ok
Day 1 - 29 Jul 2021
Content: Check in to this lovely boutique hotel in a city center. Wonderful bed and spacious room. Nice staff. Parking is 5 min walk.
Content: Lazy walk around the docks in the city center. Liverpool is a beautiful city with a great old vibe.
Content: Visiting famous The Beatles statue and enjoying pretty sunset.
Content: Dinner and drinks at this very pink restaurant! Very instagrammable place that ladies will love. My husband was not too impressed tho🤣

Content: Arriving to a beautiful Edinburgh city. We visited before so going to spend only a night here, however if its your first time here allow minimum 2 full days to explore this beautiful city!

Content: Check out from apartments. More walks around the city. Visiting Ross fountain, Edinburgh castle and Vennel steps.
Content: Wonderful roadside stop for us in this community park with two modern horses statues build on water island! Very impressive sight and nice place to walk around and have lunch. Park is free but we paid £2 for a parking. Worth a visit!
Content: Beautiful sunny day. Road. Best playlist. Snacks. And we reach Loch Ness area! You know - the lake with legendary monster!
Content: Checking in to this lovely privately runned hotel! Wonderful terrace with lake view. Rustic style. Friendly owners. Most delicious dinner here at the hotel too!
Content: Late and very scenic hike for some fresh air around the waterfalls! Touch the nature! Lovely end of the evening ❤️
Day 4 - 1 Aug 2021
Content: Checking out from hotel and start a day with a nice walk by the lake. Thats where our NC500 ( North Coast 500) journey starts. We briefly visit Inverness town (first stop of NC500) and jump to the supermarket to buy some snacks for the road. You can stay in Inverness town for a night and explore more of this nice Highlands capital town!
Content: First stop- Chanonry point , famous spot to watch the dolphins! Unfortunately we were not lucky to spot them, however still worth a visit for a nice beach walk and who knows - you might be lucky! Note: Very limited parking so might have to wait for someone to leave so you can park.
Content: Lovely walk around this beautiful remote place. This lighthouse idyllically located and has dramatic views around it. Cliffs, mountains, sea. According to local folklore - that is exact place where covens of witches used to meet! 🧙♀️ Great spot to watch waves, seabirds and even spot some dolphins! 🐬
Content: Its a must to visit this magnificent castle and its gardens - most northerly great houses of Scotland. This architectural miracle has 189 rooms and was built in 1300s. Castle open from 1st April to 31st October. Entry fee is £12.50 per adult and includes entry to Castle, Museum, Falconry and Gardens. Last admission is 4pm. We didnt go inside as we arrived late however we were lucky to explore gardens for free as it was opened.

Content: Whiskey tasting is an experience you cannot miss while in Scotland! We chose this distilery as we love Old Pulteney whiskey! The distillery produces the Old Pulteney single malt whisky at a number of ages and has a visitor centre in Huddart Street. Nice tasting tour - trying 4 different whiskeys and finding out process of making it. Around one hour activity. For drivers there is an option ( ad my husband took it) - you dont taste but you get little bottles of each whiskey to take home and taste after! Great! Tasting price is 20£ per person.
Content: Castle Sinclair Girnigoe is a ruined castle(s) in Caithness. It is located 3 miles north of Wick where it overlooks the dramatic cliff faces that face Sinclair Bay. Wild and windswept coastline that instantly brings Game of Thrones vibes! Admission is free!

Content: Visiting this beautiful village for a coffee break and buy some souvenirs.

Content: Dunnet Head is most northern point of mainland Britain. The Ducansby stacks lie just off the shore of Dunnet Head and west of John O’groats village. These 60m sea stacks tower high above the ferocious and unpredictable water of the North Sea. Its really a natural wonder and impressive sight! People say that its shape reminding a witch hat! We take a long walk around this magnificient place and also admire wildlife - loads of seabirds call it home here, including puffins!

Content: On the road again. Driving through rural areas, mountainous roads, little villages. Absolutely most scenic road trip!

Content: We have a walk around the area ) its very rural) for some more stunning views and we finally meet famous Highland Cows!
Content: Dramatic sea cave set into cliffs. You will find it one mile south of town of Durness. Cave was formed by a burn that runs down into the rear chamber, as well as erosion caused by the sea. Its really worth a visit. Easily accessible by stairs from parking lot
Content: Dont miss out on visiting this perfect Scotish beach with gold sand and various rocks scattered along the beach. Beautiful!

Content: First stop is this absolutely stunning beach for a morning walk.
Content: We reach this wonderful bridge - another highlight of North Coast 500.
Content: We spend few hours here swimming and chilling. We also have picnic lunch on the beach
Content: Visit to this gorgeous national park! Its very easily accesible with a short walk from parking lot. Beautiful waterful, nature and rocks. Also hanging bridge over the waterfall! Admission is free!
Content: Famous single line road through mountains leading to Applecross peninsula. We were lucky with the weather and witnessed some fantastic views. Dont miss it! Its a must on this road trip! However this pass is only for experienced drivers!
Day 7 - 4 Aug 2021
Content: Bonfire, brandy and bbq evening for us in nature. Absolutely perfect!
Content: Location is absolutely amazing, but I struggled to get a good sleep here due to very tiny walls and noise.
Day 8 - 5 Aug 2021
Content: First stop of the day for a lovely lunch in this family runned caffee next to golf club. I cant get enough of fresh salmon here! They also make delicious cakes every day!
Content: We reach beautiful Isle of Skye! First stop is Fairy pools. Probably most challenging hike of all for us, because it started raining and became very slippery! However we made it! Note: Very difficult to find a parking spot around as its very busy and all parking lots were completely full. So leave enough time.

Day 9 - 6 Aug 2021
Content: A visit to this small tidal island and incredibly beautiful/ nationally famous castle. One of the most photographed fortress in Scotland and seen in movies such as James Bond or Entrapment. Admission fee: £10 per person
Content: Another famous film location - Glenfinnan railway Viaduct. Stunning architectural miracle that has become even better known in recent years after it starred in the Harry Potter movies. We even witnessed a train passing by! The one showed in Harry Potter Hogwards Express!
Content: Evening walk in this beautiful silver sand beach! I would love to come back here for some camping during hot days!

Content: Some lazy fishing and bbq time! We loved our time in Scotland. We absolutely switched off and connected to nature. North coast 500 is spectacular route with so much to offer. One of the best road trips ever! Just plan it in advance and spend as much time as you can here! You will love it! Tip: summer time is best time to travel here
