Day 1 - 22 May 2019
Content: We took an evening flight from London to Porto via ryanair. Then as soon as we got to Porto we took a train from the airport to the city centre. The trains were a bit difficult to navigate as the train lines are all colour coordinated but people helped us around! We bought a train and bus pass for the week since we wanted to hit all stops without tiring ourselves
Day 1 - 22 May 2019
Content: This Airbnb is located at the heart of the city! I can’t recommend this area and Airbnb enough! It is in the heart of the city, the flat is so modern and safe, easy to get to by transport and so many shops around that we could get food any time of the day if we just walked downstairs
Content: Our Airbnb was right next to this beautiful church which is also a 5 minute walk from the city centre of Porto
Day 2 - 23 May 2019
Content: While our trip was mainly to see Porto, we decided to make a day trip to Lisbon by train (1 hour) and 40 euros return ticket. We left in the morning at 9 and our first stop was to eat some pastel de nata.
Content: Then we walked to the Belem Tower which was really nice to see the beautiful sea from.
Content: We took a Tuk tuk 🛺 around this bridge (reminded me a bit of San Francisco) all the way to the time out market in Lisbon. It was such a nice experience and saw a lot more of Lisbon than we would’ve if we went by bus that day. We paid 10 euros for the ride.
Content: The market was so crowded but we managed to find a seat after waiting for a while and we had some decent seafood. However, I feel it was overrated.
Content: Next, we went to the heart of the city centre and tried this famous trains there, it was cute! We also did some shopping and got souvenirs.
Content: The train took us to the top of the hill where we got off to go see this famous church. It was beautiful!
Content: We walked a bit further uphill to see the BEST view of Lisbon. There was amazing music playing, the sun was setting and the mood was just great.
Content: Before we left for our train back to Porto that night, we stopped at the Topo bar where we grabbed a bite and some drinks while we enjoyed the view; I recommend visiting this place!
Day 3 - 24 May 2019
Content: The next day was a beach day. I didn’t really like this beach, it was quite far from where we lived (we had to change 2 buses) and the beach was quite rocky and windy. There wasn’t great food around either but we made the most of it.
Content: For dinner, we walked to this bar from our Airbnb and it was really nice, you can see the Ponte Luis bridge and the other side of Porto. The food there was decent, I didn’t like the Portuguese wine though...
Day 4 - 25 May 2019
Content: We had to go here for brunch the next day, we heard so much about it. The food was good but nothing special. The restaurant was quite busy and it took an hour to get my eggs on toast.
Content: After brunch we walked to this church. I honestly loved how all the buildings were painted artistically in blue, it was beautiful to admire. We got some good photos here.
Content: On our way up the hill, we found this amazing spot where we could admire all of Porto. I recommend coming here!!
Content: This cathedral was shut when we visiting and it was quite busy but we just admired it from outside before heading back to our place to rest before dinner.
Content: This was my favourite evening. We went back to the Ponte Luis bridge and got a cable cart along the bridge where we saw all of Porto while the sun was setting. It was magnificent and definitely the highlight of my trip.
Day 5 - 26 May 2019
Content: This was our last day of our amazing stay in Porto. We got a bus to this crystal palace on the other side of town and it was so beautiful - we saw a peacock too! A must visit it you love nature. I think the bonus was the view from the garden, we got great photos there.
Content: We passed by the sao bento station because we heard it had some amazing art! Then we stopped at our Airbnb to grab our things and pack up.
Content: We grabbed a quick bite before our flight. The food was quite good!
Day 5 - 26 May 2019
Content: We took a train back to the aiport. Overall an excellent vacation, we were so sad to leave Porto!
