Day 1 - 29 May 2021
Content: Arrive in Belize City and going through customs. You need to have your vaccination card and negative Covid results handy before you go through customs. Then you have to hop on a smaller plane (Maya Airlines) to get to San Pedro.
Day 1 - 29 May 2021
Content: When I arrived to San Pedro, took a taxi to Lagoons Bar and grill. Right across, you’ll find a dock with many boats. You have to get on the boat to Coconut Cafe.
Day 1 - 29 May 2021
Content: Once I got to Coconut Café, they welcomed me with a Rum punch, then showed me around. Brahma Blue is an oasis adjacent to the café.
Day 2 - 30 May 2021
Content: My first full day in Belize, I stayed in the resort and enjoyed a relaxing day in the sun.
Content: The Rum punch and good is delicious.
Content: The food doesn’t get any fresher than this. I ordered the Tamarind mojito with the seafood platter. Your server guides you to the front of the store where all the seafood options are on display and you can choose whatever you want and the quantity you want. Everything you select is priced according to weight and market value. Your server will help you decide how you which to have each selected seafood cooked, your meal comes with your choice of coconut rice, fries, or salad. I can’t even remember how I decided to cook my meal, because all the options he listed had me drooling. I picked shrimp, Octopus and conch, each cooked differently, with a side of rice.
Day 3 - 31 May 2021
Content: I rented a golf cart with Rock’s. They have the best rates on the island at $25 daily rates. Golf carts are the easiest way to tour San Pedro.
Day 3 - 31 May 2021
Content: Spent the day driving around in the rented golf cart and visit the island.
Content: Intimate gallery featuring colorful Belizean & Caribbean paintings, textiles & sculpture.
Content: The Truck Stop is a food truck park heaven, one of San Pedro’s top entertainment spot, built from old shipping containers. Each container has a different type of food, from Asian to pizza to Latin. There is also a bar fully stocked and a delicious drink menu. I like trying specialty drinks so, I always ask if the bar has a drink menu to pick from. On special events, they have bands playing and movie nights.
Day 4 - 1 Jun 2021
Content: Flight Café is in proximity to San Pedro Airport, hence the name, and gets very busy. I ordered a cappuccino and a spinach croissant. Wi-Fi isn’t the best on the island, however, they have fast Wi-Fi signal so I was able to get a table and enjoy breakfast while catching up on emails/messages.
Content: After breakfast, I walked to San Pedro Airport booked a tour with Maya Airlines for $215
Content: It is an hour long tour and the charter plane just goes around the hole and tilts back a forth to allow us to take pictures and video of the phenomenon that is the Great Blue Hole. I wish the captain would have given us the back story and explain how it was discovered, but I was able to do my own research but it would have been nicer to get more information from a local, especially considering this was a tour after all. Although the tour is pricey in my opinion, but it is one of those things you only get the opportunity to see once in your lifetime, so I highly recommend it.
Content: In the evening, Coconut Café hosted a pool party, with yummy appetizers and drinks.
Day 5 - 2 Jun 2021
Content: I drove the golf cart south and had breakfast at Marriott’s newest resort, Alaia Belize. Their menu is diverse and delicious! The resort itself is so dreamy and luxurious.
Day 5 - 2 Jun 2021
Content: After breakfast, I went up to the rooftop, Vista rooftop lounge. The bar isn’t open until later in the day, so I was able to take a quick dip in the rooftop infinity pool.
Content: Before heading back to my hotel, I stopped at Oasis Spa to get a massage. They have different packages you can choose from, or you can build your own package. They have ear candling that I wanted to try but I was too scared.
Day 6 - 3 Jun 2021
Content: I met with a group of locals and went to the famous Secret Beach. For only $10 USD, you get to bounce around and enjoy the obstacle courses and slides in the middle of the ocean.
Day 6 - 3 Jun 2021
Content: The water is so warm and shallow. People usually stay up until the sunset, which I heard is gorgeous, but we decided to make our way back before it got dark, since there aren’t any lights on roads.
Content: I tried Pupusas at La Divina Providencia, with their shredded cabbage. Add some local hot sauce on top and you got yourself a delicious meal.
Day 7 - 4 Jun 2021
Content: Having a delicious traditional Belizean breakfast
Content: After breakfast, I made my way to Hose of Culture. It’s a small pink house with posters and information about San Pedro. There aren’t really museums on the island so that’s the only way to learn about the island’s history, unless you talk to the locals.
Content: A covid-19 test is required to return to the United States. I was able to schedule my appointment with Caring Hands Clinic in advance and they were very accommodating. They allowed me to do the Saliva swab instead of the nasal swab per my request and I got my results with 15 minutes, along with an attestation to give to the airline prior to embarkment. You cannot check-in for your flight online, so you must wait until you get to Belize City Airport to check-in with an agent at the counter and show your negative Covid-19 results.
