Emilio's Cafe

Quepos, Emilio's Cafe

Content: After a day relaxing on the beach and napping off some of the jetlag, head to Emilio's Cafe for dinner! The food is all really fresh and the coffee is wonderful as well! The views are also amazing, make sure you sit outside if there's space!

Quepos La Managua Airport (XQP)

Quepos, Quepos La Managua Airport (XQP)

Content: Start your Costa Rican adventure by flying into Quepos airport! This is the closest airport to your first stop of the trip- Manual Antonio!

Quepos

Quepos, Quepos

Content: Once you land in Quepos, go for a wander around as it is a very pretty place and the biggest town close to Manual Antonio. Grab a coffee and then jump in a taxi to Manual Antonio. This trip should only take about 15 minutes by car and will be very affordable, though there is also an option to get a bus.

Vista Serena Manuel Antonio

Quepos, Vista Serena Manuel Antonio

Content: Once you arrive into Manual Antonio, head to your hostel to check in. I would recommend Hostel Vista Serena as it is a really good price, very social and has the most gorgeous views over the jungle and the sea! Perfect for an evening sitting on the balcony and watching the sun go down.

Biesanz Beach

Quepos, Biesanz Beach
Quepos, Biesanz Beach

Content: Next, spend the day relaxing at one of my favourite beaches in the area- Playa Biesanz. You can either walk from the hostel, which will take about 40 minutes but I would recommend for the views and wildlife along the way! We passed so many different monkeys and iguanas and insane views of palm trees over the sea. However, once you get down near the beach there is a bit of a hill so maybe try to organise transport for the way home!

Day 2 - 2 Mar 2022

Café Milagro Coffee Roasters

Quepos, Café Milagro Coffee Roasters

Content: Start with an early morning coffee today at Café Milagro! Once again, the views are absolutely spectacular (like everywhere in Manual Antonio!). They also serve some wonderful food, so I would recommend having breakfast here too.

Content: Next, head down to the entrance of the Manuel Antonio National Park! The park is very popular so I would recommend getting your tickets online in advance. I purchased them the night before but if you are on a schedule I would advise getting them a few days in advance to make sure there is space! There is also the option to pay extra for a guide- this can be booked online with your ticket or if you are on a budget, I would advise just getting the standard ticket and then heading to the entrance and haggling with the guides! We managed to get a guide for much cheaper at the entrance, though we did then need to wait around 20 minutes until he had gathered a big enough group. The National Park is absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend a tour guide! He was very funny and had so many interesting facts about Manuel Antonio and Costa Rica as a country. He also bought a telescope with him and had such a keen eye for spotting even the tiniest of animals- we managed to see so much because of him!

Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio

Quepos, Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio

Content: The tour lasted around three hours and then finished at the beach within the park, which is one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been on. I would recommend spending a few hours here just soaking up the beauty! There are two beaches to explore and there is also a restaurant for lunch!

Manuel Antonio Beach

Content: After visiting the park, head to the main beach in Manual Antonio for sunset! The sunsets I saw there were the most beautiful I've ever seen in my entire life!

Day 3 - 3 Mar 2022

Dominical

Savegre de Aguirre, Dominical

Content: Next morning, get up early to head to Dominical for a day trip! If you had any extra time, I would highly recommend staying here as it is a really gorgeous little place but if you are on a limited schedule then a day trip is fine! To get the bus, you will need to head back to Quepos and get a bus from the main station. The journey will take about an hour.

Location: dominical

Day 3 - 3 Mar 2022

Fuego Brewing Company

dominical, Fuego Brewing Company

Content: When you arrive into Dominical, head straight to Fuego Coffee which was one of my favourite cafes of the entire trip! There is a gorgeous outdoor seating area and it is all tucked away from the main road, making it feel very secluded and like you are in a jungle. There is also a restaurant here so you can grab some breakfast or lunch!

Location: Pérez Zeledón

Day 4 - 4 Mar 2022

Pérez Zeledón, Nauyaca Waterfall Nature Park

Content: Next, I would recommend heading to see a waterfall as they are famous in Costa Rica! There are two options you could decide between, based on your budget. The famous waterfall in the area is called Nauyaca. You can either join a group tour to visit, which will include transport from your hostel to the waterfall or you can choose to take a bus and then hike up which would take around 3 hours each way.

Location: Uvita

Day 4 - 4 Mar 2022

Cascada Verde

Uvita, Cascada Verde

Content: Alternatively, if you are on a budget there is also a much cheaper waterfall in Uvita, called Cascada Verde. If you are staying at Whale Tail Hotel then it is a very short walk, and is very cheap (about £4 entry). The actual waterfall isn't that big but there are lots of other watering holes surrounding it as well as a butterfly room which was lovely to visit!

Five Maes

Uvita, Five Maes

Content: That evening, head to Five Maes which is exactly like Five Guys burgers! Burgers were really delicious and the milkshakes were amazing- I would recommend!

Content: Next, get ready for your big activity in Tamarindo- watching baby turtles hatch! To do this, you need to book onto a tour. There are many different tour companies in Tamarindo so you can just take a wander and see where you can find the best deal. The tours usually take place at sunset so you will need to be leaving Tamarindo with your tour around 4:30pm. You will be driven to the beach where most of the turtles lay their eggs, and will be given a red light torch so you don't bother the baby or mother turtles! We saw so many tiny turtles making their way to the ocean and also about 5 big mother turtles making their way up the beach to nest! This was such a magical experience and I would highly recommend.

You can either opt to sunbathe and read to soak up the last of the warmth, or alternatively try your hand at surfing! The waves at the main beach are generally quite small so are a perfect place to learn. You can easily book in some lessons from one of the surf bars along the main road, or just rent one for an hour or so to try your hand at it!
