Content: We took the public transport, which is really good in Mexico. If you prefer renting a car, do so at the airport, so you can return it when your trip is over. This itinerary is quite fast pace, if you have more time we highly recommend to stay longer at some places. For example Holbox, Tulum, or add more places lake the pink lakes, Mahahual etc. See also our other itinerary about Valladolid.

Content: Do the three island tour in the morning. You will go on a tour and possibly see dolphins and flamingos as well. When in the right time of year it is also possible to snorkel with whalesharks. For us swimming with whalesharks left us a little bit torn. It was amazing to see them, but so many boats and tourists can't be good. At different places in Mexico you can have a more genuine experience

Content: After the tour take your bike/golf cart or your legs and chill at the beaches. Take a picture when laying in one of the hammocks in the sea

Content: When it's finally dark and no full moon, and you are in the right season (june-september) you can see a lot of bioluminescence plankton. We've only seen a couple in February.

Content: Valladolid is a beautiful, colonial town. It has a historic center, cute little streets like Calle de los Frailes and a nice park. Just walk around the city center and enjoy the city!

Content: Valladolid itself it beautiful, but the thing that makes it extra special is that it’s surrounded by stunning cenotes. Rent a bike/scooter/car and explore them! We made a more in-depth itinerary about Valladolid (and all of the cenotes), but here are some of our favorites: Xcanahaltun, Samula/Dzitnup, Xkeken and Suytun.

Content: Walk around town and pay a visit to this place if you love to learn a bit of the history. When at the right day in the week there is a lightshow in the evening
Chichen itza
Content: We loved visiting chichen itza, but you hear different stories. It's amazing to walk at the complex and dream about how it must have been hundreds of years ago. Go really early to beat the crowds, by car or take a collectivo.

Content: Less crowded then Chichen itza and you are still allowed to climb some of the buildings. Definitely worth a visit.

Content: Take your bike and go to the beach. It's quite a long ride (30 mins) but you will love it. Chill in the water or enjoy the archaeological site with its beautiful ruins

Content: After some relaxing at the beach, take your bike to the most well known place in Tulum to take a picture with.
