Tulum, Mimosa Tulum

Content: We stayed at the most beautiful hotel / hostel in Tulum downtown and had the best experience here! Our tipi tent was lovely and actually out of stone and wood so the comfort level is 100% good! It’s very central located and they serve great cocktails and breakfast 🍳 🥞

Content: On our first day we went for some errands like buying a local sim card and renting bikes. On our way we stoped for lunch at La Hoja Verde and had a tasty healthy salad and burger. If vegan and healthy food is your jam than we absolutely recommend this one!

Public beach

Unknown, Public beach

Content: In the afternoon we went to explore Tulum beach🌊👙 When going to Tulum beach you have 2 zones: the hotel zone (right) and the jungle zone (left) If you don’t stay at one of the hotels along the beach you can’t access the beach area on the right. That’s why we went to the left zone where there are public areas. But actually it’s a lot more authentic than the hotel zone which we love in the first place ☺️

Gran Cenote

Tulum, Gran Cenote
Tulum, Gran Cenote

Content: In Tulum there are 2 cenotes we definitely recommend to see: Gran Cenote and Cenote Callavera We noticed that the prices went a little bit up, probably due to Covid. You pay 15$ each for entrance. However it’s a little paradise! Little turtles swim around you and the water is super clear and a special kind of blue. We came here around opening hour (9h) but there were already some tour groups. On the other hand, these groups only stay for 30min so if you’re patient you have the place to yourself 😉 After swimming in the Cenote we enjoyed a bit of sunbathing on the grass because the water is definitely chill! But I’m easily cold so that can be me too 🙈 Anyways, the cenote is surrounded by grass so you can make a day out of it. 3 tips for a pleasant experience at cenotes 👇🏼 〰️ Bring your own snorkeling gear 🤿 〰️ Leave your sun screen in your bag becauserr for ecological reasons yoy can not wear it while in the water. Before entering the water you have to shower and they check if you did. 〰️ Bring some drinks and snacks because you can’t buy anything

Cenote Calavera

Tulum, Cenote Calavera

Content: Cenote Calavera is also a lot of fun mainly because it’s a big hole in the ground you can jump in. The hole is a bit hollow on the sides which is very dark and it’s home to bats 🦇 You can jump in or walk via the giant ladder🪜. Once in the water you can rest on the swing or climb back up for another jump 😬

It’s plankton that light up when you move in the water. It’s like looking at a sky full of stars ✨ but then it water. Such a unique experience and we totally recommend it! And if that’s not enough, we also saw the milky way up in the sky 🌌 We actually have never seen the milky way because of light pollution in the place we live (probably a lot of places on earth). So being lucky we could experience this too, we felt 2 lucky humans 🥰

Valladolid, Cenote Suytun

Content: With over 6000 cenotes in the Yucatan peninsula it’s hard to choose from which one to visit and which ones to skip! Well let me tell you, Cenote Suytun is not one you should skip! This cenote is very popular and looking at the photos you can tell why. Although the crowd for this one, we still find it worth to visit because it’s really stunning! You have to walk down a cave to admire this beauty. Once you’re in the cave you still have to walk down the stairs to get into the water but you have this beautiful overview on the Cenote like in the first photo. This cenote is rather to admire than to make a day of it and swim. You have to look at it like kind of a monument, rather than an experience. I really advice you to come around opening hour (9h) to beat the crowd because the line queue’s up easily here.

CENOTE CHICHIKAN

Valladolid, CENOTE CHICHIKAN

Content: After Cenote Suytun we went straight to another amazing Cenote: Chichikan It was not on our list but other travelers recommended us to see this one too and we’re happy we listened 😃 This cenote looks like a tropical oasis but like all cenotes we visited: ice cold water! There’s a restaurant that serves typical Maya cuisine which we really enjoyed! The lime soup was a pleasant surprise and the chicken fajitas super tasty. Exactly what we needed on a busy day exploring around 😉

The idea that this was created by the human species thousands of year before now is extraordinary and hard to believe! We explored the whole site for about 2 hours but we could spend easily another 30 min - 1 hour. The site closes at 5 pm so we suggest to come around 2pm or maybe early in the morning. In the midst of the day it might be a bit too hot to walk around.
