Day 1 - 20 Apr 2021
Content: We stayed at Ipana for the whole month we were at Playa Del Carmen. We had an amazing stay and I definitely recommend looking into this place, if you are planning a trip to Playa Del Carmen. The room was spacious and nicely decorated, there are three huge pools on the roof of the building and there’s a very nice and big gym too. The pool bar wasn’t always open (but I think under ‘normal’ circumstances it is) but you could order your own food and eat it there. If the bar was open the staff was super friendly and made great cocktails for you to enjoy. The building also had a lot of security, which made me feel comfortable enough to walk around the building and gardens at any given time.
Content: On our first day we decided to check out the beach closest to our apartment, this is when we stumbled upon INTI beach and we had lunch there. The food was really good and nicely presented, but the best part was the beautiful view of the ocean while you were eating!
Content: We also did a little shopping this day, because when you are planning on going away for months, of course you forget a few things in your suitcase. This outside mall has a lot of different stores and also some places where you can get a coffee and a quick bite. It also looks very aesthetically pleasing, so it’s a great place to walk around and do some shopping while you’re there.
Content: Our first night we went out to look for a bite to eat, this place had such a good ambiance, it wasn’t hard for us to choose where to eat. First of all our waiter was incredibly friendly and really made our night extra fun. He offered us a shot of tequila and with the drink he also brought us sombreros (including one for himself) to wear while taking the shot. The food was really good, our guacamole and my salad were made next to our table, which was entertaining. Besides that, they also had amazing musicians and singers performing the whole night.
Day 2 - 21 Apr 2021
Content: This place was our go-to for breakfast, because they had amazing deals for a very affordable price. I mostly ordered the omelettes or the club sandwich and it always came with salad, juice and coffee.
Content: One thing mexico can give you, is gorgeous beaches! Right away I knew I wanted to do an engagement photoshoot on one of the beaches. We booked an amazing photographer (@Giuliavasta_photography on Instagram) and did a golden hour photoshoot. Definitely recommend checking out this specific beach, but go early, because at the end of our photoshoot, it was already getting crowded with people (around nine AM) Before that, there was almost nobody there.
Content: The pictures definitely don’t do this place justice, I don’t know if the beauty of this place can’t be caught on camera. Please visit here if you are planning on going to Playa del carmen! This restaurant was placed in the most beautiful jungle-like garden and there was even an cenote in it, you could visit. There was also a waterfall and lots of lights, which made the whole place super magical! The food was great, a little bit more pricey, but for the place you get to eat it in, definitely worth it!
Day 3 - 22 Apr 2021
Content: Another one of our favourite places to go for breakfast or brunch! Their eggs Benedict was my favourite choice, but they had a lot of different options on their menu.
Day 3 - 22 Apr 2021
Content: This was one of the best things we did while being in Mexico. Everyone recommends visiting a cenote while being in Mexico and swimming between the gorgeous nature, now I understand why. This cenote is especially good if you want to go for a swim, the open blue/green waters are wonderful (unless you’re scared of fish!) I also saw a few people take their snorkel sets. I was truly in awe by how beautiful this place was and loved all the different nature and animals we got to see.
Day 3 - 22 Apr 2021
Content: This is one of the best itialian restaurants I’ve ever visited. The garden you eat in has a great ambiance and the food is just terrific. I loved the pastas, especially the ones with seafood in them. My fiancé is more of a pizza guy and he even stated that it was one of the best pizzas he’s ever had.
Day 4 - 23 Apr 2021
Content: If you want to try some real Mexican breakfast, go to this place! I tried some Mexican coffee here, which was very sweet and tasty. I loved the ambiance and how this place embraced Mexican culture and food. One of the most fun parts about travel for me is trying new foods and food combinations and this was the perfect place to do that.
Day 4 - 23 Apr 2021
Content: This beach was recommended by one of our taxi drivers and it did not disappoint! A short drive away from Playa Del Carmen, it was one of the most beautiful beaches we visited. There was a little entrance fee, but this place is great to take pictures or have a swim. There also were plenty of spots to have lunch or dinner here.
Day 4 - 23 Apr 2021
Content: I still think about this salad. Great spot to get your lunch or have a coffee, especially if you want a little break (just a little, of course) from Mexican food.
Content: We went here a few times for drinks and dancing. Loved the music and the ambiance, the only downside is that the venue is basically outside and it’s very hot without airco, even in the middle of night. The venue doesn’t have a roof and there’s trees in the middle of the dance floor, which is very unique and fun, but not to great for the heat. Other than that, a fun spot to go dancing! It also had other entertainment like dancers and acrobats, which was nice.
Day 5 - 24 Apr 2021
Content: Great place for breakfast, attached to a hotel and pool. Food was good and got some cute pictures for Instagram.
Content: We went to visit a friend here at a pool party and my fiancé jumped in to do some DJ’ing. Very nice place to go and have some drinks at the pool. After this we went to the beach, where they also have beds you can relax and have some drinks/food. The staff was super friendly and polite. Great view of the ocean!
Content: We decided to go on a little ‘streetfood’ tour, stopping at food stalls and small restaurants where the locals love to eat (we asked around). There was so much different foods to try, I wish I didn’t get full so fast, so I could have tried it all!
Content: A very nice place to go for a night out. We got ourselves our own table, which I definitely recommend as it does get crowded and it’s affordable when your with a group of friends (we were with seven people).
Content: This place is great to get affordable drinks (perfect for some drinks before a night out) and small snacks (great for after a night out). In the weekends the music was very loud and there were a lot of people there to party, so I definitely wouldn’t recommend going there if you just want to go for food. But if you are ready to party, it will definitely get you going!
Day 6 - 25 Apr 2021
Content: Nice beach but hard to get to, every restaurant asked a very high entrance rate or minimum spend. Very different from beaches a little closer to Playa Del Carmen. We ended up getting drinks somewhere on a minimum spend, but it was a little too pricey in my opinion.
Day 6 - 25 Apr 2021
Content: One place we went for breakfast a few times was Café Bistro. This small place we randomly stumbled upon really surprised us with having some of the best food we had all month! The owners of this place are also super friendly and there’s a cute photo spot to take your picture.
Content: We visited the rooftop of the reef 28 because two of our friends were staying at the resort. We went for a pool party and there was a entrance fee plus a minimum amount you had to spend on food and drinks. We had dinner and a few cocktails and really enjoyed our time here! The food was good, the drinks were nice and the view (especially with the sunset) made our night extra special.
Day 7 - 26 Apr 2021
Content: Another great option if you are craving some Mexican breakfast/lunch! Very good food for a great price.
Content: A great all-inclusive resort with many different food options, a nice pool and private beach. We had dinner at the itialian restaurant, which was good. Perfect to go with a family, because it seemed to be more focused on families with kids!
Content: A lovely place to have drinks (and dance later in the night) on the rooftop and inside.
Day 8 - 27 Apr 2021
Content: Not Playa Del Carmen, but worth the mention: just a boat trip away you can visit the beautiful island of Cozumel. We only had one day here, but I’m definitely planning on going back. The island is surrounded by beautiful mangroves and other nature.
Content: We stayed at this all-in resort and it was a lovely stay. Our food and drinks were included in the price and there were two different restaurants we could eat. The beach by the hotel was beautiful and we could rent snorkels and glasses for free for an hour. Snorkelling was absolutely amazing, one of the best things we did when in Mexico. So many different fish and creatures to see. Another highlight was our dinner with view on the ocean while the sun was setting!
