Day 1 - 4 Dec 2020
Content: If you are traveling with friends I highly suggest to rent a car. My friend waited for me to arrive and picked me up with the rental car. She chose a low insurance coverage and our daily rent was around $30 per day. She drove all the way to tulum and we arrived close to midnight. We messaged our concierge at the hotel to make sure we would have a smooth check in process.
Day 1 - 4 Dec 2020
Content: We arrived close to midnight. We messaged our concierge at the hotel to make sure we would have a smooth check in process. Overall a great hotel at a reasonable price for the location, Tulum hotel zone. Very close to the follow your dream sign and other well known hotels, in case you want to go enjoy the day at their beach club. This hotel is located facing the jungle not the beach side. We chose it to spend our first night since it’s so close to everything we wanted to do it the next day.
Day 2 - 5 Dec 2020
Content: We had breakfast at Hotel Panamera with ocean view, the food was really good and friendly staff that gave us lots of tips about the other hotels we were curious about and informed us about their current situation with covid.
Day 2 - 5 Dec 2020
Content: This cenote closes 15 minutes before the closing time so keep that in mind. There are two areas in this cenote. Don’t forget to give yourself enough time here because believe me, time flies by really quick between pictures and swimming. Price was 300 Mexican pesos when I went. Closing time: ~ 4:45 pm Preferably go in the morning.
Content: Located in tulum hotel zone close to Rosa negra. Always make a reservation to have dinner in Tulum.
Day 3 - 6 Dec 2020
Content: From Tulum to Yucatán, we tried to wake up early but failed. Make sure to give enough time to this trip to Chichén Itzá. It took us the whole day
Day 3 - 6 Dec 2020
Content: After the chichen itza tour we drove to chiquilla to take the ferry to Holbox. The tickets are around $11 usd you can either pay in pesos or dollars. We made it to the 8:30 pm ferry and arrived to Holbox after 15 minutes or so, the weather was really bad and floods in Holbox very often so I highly recommend to just being a backpack, no wheeled carry ons.
Day 3 - 6 Dec 2020
Content: We made it to Holbox and the island was completed flooded due to the storm. We were lucky to find a taxi that made it to our hotel and arrived to casa iguana so last minute. They were wonderful and so accommodating, we made reservations right there. The front desk guy was 10/10 very kind, friendly and empathic.
Day 4 - 7 Dec 2020
Content: Beautiful hotel and pet friendly. Love the colorful details in the room. The painting the hammocks, beach front location. Everything was perfect. We had some bad weather during our stay but the hotel selection saved the day! Get their shrimp tacos 😋
Content: If you go to Holbox island and didn’t eat a lobster pizza did you really go? 🤣
Content: Walk around the island and take pictures with the so many colorful murals and signs. Just a few steps away from our hotel we found some colorful Holbox signs to take pictures with :)
Day 5 - 8 Dec 2020
Content: A few step away from the hotel you can find this Holbox sing and info about tours in the island. I originally wanted to go do the flamingo tour but we didn’t have good luck with the weather so we just relaxed instead.
Day 5 - 8 Dec 2020
Content: After coming back from Holbox we checked in at Diamante K, this place felt like a little private island, located in the hotel zone but a little further away from all the craziness ;)
Content: Tulum centro is another great option for drinks and to casually hang out with friends, we went to three different places before goin back to hour hotels/Airbnb’s
Day 6 - 9 Dec 2020
Content: Morning pictures in this beautiful piece of heaven. We woke up early enough to take pictures before going to playa del Carmen to get a covid CPR test.
Day 6 - 9 Dec 2020
Content: The test took literally just a minute and didn’t need to wait. Price was around $130 usd around that time when there wasn’t covid testing offered all over tulum for less so if you don’t have to come to Playa del Carmen for any reason then don’t choose this lab, we opted to go to cenote azul afterwards so it worked well.
Content: This cenote is huge so you can easily spend most of the day here. If I come back to Mexico I would definitely come back here :)
Content: Quick stop in playa del Carmen close to 5th Avenue to eat lunch, buy a few things from the mall, and to rest by the beach after a long day 🙃 La Tarraya is just a reference for the area of the beach where we stayed but we did not go into that restaurant at all.
Day 7 - 10 Dec 2020
Content: Iconic piece of art by Daniel Popper at the entrance of Raw love - Ahau hotel. There is usually a long line here for people to take pictures, please remember to be QUICK! You can come back anytime. Better chances to get this place all to yourself early in the morning :)
Content: Snorkel tour at the tulum ruins. Our Colombian friends told us about a man that gave them a good discount so we went with the same guy, the price should be around $15-20 usd per person, they provide the snorkel equipment but you can also bring your own.
Content: Time to relax after the snorkel tour by the tulum ruins
Day 7 - 10 Dec 2020
Content: As of December 2020 entrance to this part of the Azulik hotel was free, I’ve seen somewhere else recently that there is a fee. If it was free I would definitely go if i had to pay I’ll pass as this place is really small and literally only went in there for 5-10 min to take pictures. There is an option to get into the bar and nests that I’ll explain in detail on the second Mexico tour I’ll be sharing on this app:)
Day 7 - 10 Dec 2020
Content: This place is absolutely beautiful. A must in tulum, we had dinner under the stars and all for a little less than $60 USD (appetizer, main course, dessert and beverage).
Day 8 - 11 Dec 2020
Content: We left our Airbnb early in the morning to return the rental car and to get to the airport on time. It was a great time as always in Mexico ♥️
