Day 1 - 21 Oct 2021

Day 1 - 21 Oct 2021
Content: There are dormitories as well as private rooms, a kitchen and a terrace. Pancakes and coffee for breakfast are included.
Day 2 - 22 Oct 2021
Content: From Panama City we travel via Sona to Santa Catalina. If you don't have a rental car, you will need 2 buses for this route. The journey takes about 7 hours and costs just under $15.
Day 3 - 23 Oct 2021
Content: Santa Catalina is above all a surfing resort. If you're a bit more advanced, you can surf right in town. For beginners, however, Playa El Estero is more suitable, as this beach is shallower and wider. Surfboards can be rented everywhere for $10.
Content: If you want to make new contacts and have more action in the hostel, you should stay here. Besides several dormitories, there is a courtyard with a pool and a large kitchen.
Day 4 - 24 Oct 2021
Content: About 1h boat ride from Santa Catalina is the Coiba National Park. Here you can snorkel for $80 or dive for double that. We saw dolphins, sharks, rays, turtles, a crocodile and lots of fish. At noon there is a break with sandwiches, fruit and drinks on a paradisiacal island.
Day 4 - 24 Oct 2021
Content: If you prefer it a little quieter, you're better off here. There is only one 8-person dormitory and a few private cabins. There is a restaurant in the front and a communal kitchen in the back.
Day 5 - 25 Oct 2021
Content: From Santa Catalina we travel via Sona, Santiago and David to Boquete. In total, you need about 7 hours for the route, pay just under 20$ and have to change busses 3 times.
Day 6 - 26 Oct 2021
Content: The 3.5km hiking trail is about a 20-minute drive outside Boquete. If you don't have a rental car, you can either take a taxi for $8, or a colectivo for $2.50. After a short climb, you will reach the ticket booth where you have to pay an entrance fee of $8. From there you walk for about 1.5 hours past 3 spectacular waterfalls.
Content: A little way down the road you will find another trail, slightly longer at 6km. This leads to a very high waterfall. However, not much water runs down here. The highlight here is an elm tree that is over 1000 years old. Shortly after the road, you pay an entrance fee of $5 to the local farmers.
Day 6 - 26 Oct 2021
Content: Located on the outskirts of the city, away from the hustle and bustle and therefore quiet. There are private rooms and dormitories, as well as a communal kitchen and a terrace with a garden.
Day 7 - 27 Oct 2021
Content: If you are interested in coffee, I highly recommend the tour of the farm. In a small group, we experienced the journey from the coffee cherry to grinding and roasting to brewing, followed by a tasting. The tour costs $35 and includes pick-up at the accommodation.
Day 8 - 28 Oct 2021
Content: From Boquete it is a short hour's drive back to David. From there you drive another 4.5 hours to Almirante. Here you change to a water taxi to Isla Colon in the Bocas del Toro archipelago.
Day 8 - 28 Oct 2021
Content: A fairly large hostel with a tiny, poorly equipped communal kitchen. However, it is well located to reach everything important. Tends to be more of a party hostel.
Day 9 - 29 Oct 2021
Content: Take the bus north to the Buch del Drago. From there you can either walk 15 minutes along the beach with its secluded coves to starfish beach or take a water taxi. Once you get there, you will find some restaurants and, with a bit of luck, some starfish. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THEM OUT OF THE WATER!
Day 9 - 29 Oct 2021
Content: A small family-run hostel with a terrace and large shared kitchen next to the airport on the main island. If you prefer peace and quiet in the evenings and at night, you'll be better off here than at Twin Fin.
Day 10 - 30 Oct 2021
Content: Bastimentos Island is known for the small red poison dart frogs that you can find here. The easiest way to spot them is to follow the loud chirping sound the frogs make. And then you need good eyes, because the little animals are quite small.
Day 10 - 30 Oct 2021
Content: Probably the most beautiful accommodation on our trip. A lodge with private cabins, tipis and dormitories directly on Red Frog Beach. The only disadvantage: there is no kitchen, you always have to eat in the lodge's restaurant, which is not cheap. But it's okay for a few days.
