Raleigh-Durham International Airport

Content: We left Raleigh early in the morning. We had a direct flight San Juan and it took about 4 hours. We flew Frontier Airlines. If you are in Miami they also have a direct flight and it only takes 2h30 minutes. You can find great deals from either location for less than $250 round trip.

Hyatt House San Juan

Content: We loved staying at the Hyatt House near the Convention center. The staff was super friendly and the rooms were new. Even though it is not in the heart of Old San Juan it was pretty close and only a few dollars for a Uber ride.

Calle de la Luna

Content: After check-in at your hotel head over to the historic district. Old San Juan has beautiful and colorful buildings as well as two fortresses. We recommend to go down Calle de la Luna, it was our favorite street. We could not visit the fortress that late in the afternoon but we were still able to go to the outside area of the Castillo de San Felipe del Morro.

Day 2 - 12 Mar 2021

Castillo de San Cristóbal

Content: Castillo de San Cristóbal is massive and imposing; a masterpiece of 18th century military engineering and innovation. Visitors will appreciate some of the additions made by the US Army during World War II. There are two coastal observation posts and a 1942 bunker which serves as our current Visitors’ Center. The theater located in the visitor center shows a movie in English and Spanish about the history of the park.

Castillo San Felipe del Morro

Content: A landmark of Puerto Rico’s colonial legacy, the Castillo San Felipe del Morro is an impressive citadel that sits at the very top of Old San Juan. You will have a blast learning more about the history of the Castillo and the Island itself.

Viejo San Juan

Content: The best thing to do in San Juan is to get lost in the city center and enjoy all the colorful buildings. Places you must visit besides the castles are: Catedral Basílica Menor de San Juan Bautista, La Fortaleza, Casa Blanca, Museo de las Américas, Cementerio Santa María Magdalena, Puerta de San Juan, Plaza se Armas, Plaza Colón, Paseo de los Presidentes, Memorial al Holocausto and the memorial a los profesores.

Day 3 - 13 Mar 2021

El Yunque National Forest

Content: El Yunque is one of the oldest natural reserves in the western hemisphere. It is home to hundreds of native plant species and almost 200 vertebrates. It is a beautiful day trip from San Juan. You can spend the entire day or at least the morning swimming in the waterfalls and hiking on its many trails.

Pine Grove Surfing Beach

Content: The beach is a great place to finish your vacations in San Juan. It is inside the Isla Verde Nature Reserve. Over there you can go snorkeling, surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking and sailing.
