Content: I arrived late in the day but if you get into San Diego early I recommend checking out Torrey Pines! The Carte hotel was a great modern hotel with spacious rooms located right in downtown San Diego

Content: 2 hour sea cave kayaking tour with Hike Bike Kayak, they have a few other tours to choose from as well. Saw many sea lions. Great tour!
Content: Great place to see more harbor seals, although sometimes it’s a bit crowded and scares them away. Closed every year from December 15-may 15 due to pupping season.
Content: San Diego Downtown and Balboa Park tour with iRide San Diego. Self guided 2 hour tour on a fat tire electric scooter. The scooter has a talking GPS which guides you around.
Content: Didn’t go in to the zoo but was cool to see from the outside!
Content: There are a ton of scooters to rent in Balboa park so it is easy to get around

Content: The drive from San Diego to LA is about 2 hours but it took us about 5 with all of our stops. Make sure to take the pacific coast highway which starts about halfway to LA. Our main stop was in Laguna (the pirate tower is here) but you will also pass Newport, Huntington and Long beaches.

Content: Our hotel for the next 3 nights in Santa Monica. Located right across the street from the Santa Monica pier. Right in the middle of everything we wanted to do in the LA area, such as Hollywood, Malibu and Venice.

Content: Hollywood Sign Hike Tour with Bikes and Hikes LA. This was a 4 mile hike that took 2.5 hours. Provides great views of the Hollywood sign and takes you behind it! You’ll also get panoramic views of LA while learning all about the city from your tour guide.

Content: LA to SLO. This ride is about 3 hours and there isn’t much to stop and see on the way, unless Santa Barbara. I recommend leaving early so you have the day to explore San Luis Obispo. Wolff vineyards is a Great winery for families with outdoor seating and incredible scenery. Walk-ins are welcome but you can also make a reservation

Content: This was our first stop of the PCH scenic drive. The drive from SLO to Monterey is considered one of the top 10 scenic drives in the world. It takes about 4.5 hours without stops but I would allow 7-9 hours for stop offs. We used the Gypsy guide for the drive which was a talking GPS that tells you all of the places to stop.

Content: 3 hour Moss Landing Whale watching safari with Fast Raft. Make sure to dress warm. We saw sea otters, sea lions and humpback whales. One of my favorite tours of the trip!

Content: Creamery Meadow, Bluffs, Panorama and ridge trail loop. 8 mile loop hike that took about 4 hours. Make sure to go clockwise! Beautiful ocean views and redwoods. You will have to pay an entrance fee
Content: Perfect place to get a beer after a long hike. Got lunch here too, had to wait about an hour but there is a gift shop and bar

Content: The drive from Monterey to San Fran is about 2 hours. Alcatraz day tour with Alcatraz CityCruises. Started at 1130 and you can leave any time the ferry comes back, yay sally every 30 minutes but make sure to check the schedule!
Content: Ate at a ha cha cha and got sangria! Cute little town with a lot of vintage shops.
Content: Located right near union square which is a prime location with the best shopping in The city.

Content: We did the hop on / hop off bus tour. Your ticket is good for 24 hours and includes many stops. We stopped at Alamo square to see the painted ladies and shop, haight ashbury, golden gate park, north vista point (viewpoint of the bridge), Lombard street, pier 35 (Alcatraz ferry’s), and pier 41 (fisherman’s wharf and end of Powell street where you can get on the cable car.

Content: Napa valley is about 1 hour from San Fran and is the last stop of our road trip. All wineries required reservations. I recommend booking about a month in advance and leaving about 90 minutes to 2 hours in between reservations depending on how long the tasting is and how far each winery is from the next. We booked a private driver to take us to each winery as well. Great experience!
