Day 1 - 1 Dec 2021

Daniel K. Inouye International Airport

Honolulu, Daniel K. Inouye International Airport

Content: If you’re coming from the west coast like we did, you’re most likely going to fly in during the day! The flight in is super pretty and you can see the crystal clear and turquoise waters as you fly in to the airport

Waikiki Beachcomber By Outrigger

Honolulu, Waikiki Beachcomber By Outrigger

Content: You’re probably gonna want to rent a car if you plan on exploring other parts of the island, but you can easily get to Waikiki from the airport in an Uber for about $20-$25. I recommend staying in Waikiki because all the food and restaurants and shopping will be there, and then you can drive to the other scenic locations and beaches

Ono Seafood

Honolulu, Ono Seafood

Content: This is one of my favorite poke spots on the island! I usually just stay in Waikiki on my first day getting into town, and this place is at the end of the main strip. It’s closer to Diamondhead and the zoo area but still super easy to get to, probably a 15 to 20 minute walk from the start of the strip. They have really healthy seafood and fresh bowls 🍚

Marukame Udon Waikiki

Honolulu, Marukame Udon Waikiki

Content: We didn’t wanna eat too heavy on the first night and we were exhausted so we just grabbed a bowl of the best udon on the island around the corner from us. This udon place has over 2000 reviews on yelp, and each bowl is only about $10. It’s famous and it’s so delicious

Location: Kailua

Day 2 - 2 Dec 2021

Lanikai Pillbox

Kailua, Lanikai Pillbox
Kailua, Lanikai Pillbox
Kailua, Lanikai Pillbox

Content: Wake up early and do one of the best sunrise hikes on this planet! The pillbox hike is in Kailua, about a 30 minute drive north from Waikiki. The hike itself is about 3 miles round-trip? It’s pretty short, and very easy to manage. I see 60 year old people doing it all the time. Wear shoes with tread, it does get rocky

Lanikai Beach

Content: After you’re done with the hike, head on down to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Lanikai beach is super peaceful, has some of the best snorkeling on Oahu, and is overall just absolutely gorgeous.

Location: Kapolei

Chief's Luau

Content: Even though I’ve been to Hawaii more times than I could count, this was the first time we booked a luau. It was so much fun! There’s food, drinks, fire dancers, and you basically get a whole show with your dinner. You get to meet new people and hang out for three hours at a beautiful location. Highly recommend the Chiefs luau

Day 3 - 3 Dec 2021

Koko Head

Honolulu, Koko Head
Honolulu, Koko Head

Content: This is killer hike! But one of the best on the island, for the best views all around. This is definitely not for the faint of heart because there are over 1000 steps leading up to the top, and you’re basically just walking on an old railroad track the entire way up. Be careful and wear shoes with good grip

Halona Blowhole Lookout

Honolulu, Halona Blowhole Lookout
Honolulu, Halona Blowhole Lookout
Honolulu, Halona Blowhole Lookout

Content: This is kind of a tourist trap but it’s really cool to see a blow hole if you’ve never seen one before. Especially during winter, the water can shoot over 20 feet high. Even though it’s touristy, the drive to the blowhole itself is gorgeous and very scenic, so you can stop along the way however you want

Location: Honolulu County

Day 3 - 3 Dec 2021

Halona Beach Cove

Honolulu County, Halona Beach Cove
Honolulu County, Halona Beach Cove

Content: If you want to skip the blow hole because there’s too many tourists, you can actually take a trail down to this beach and it’s filled with more locals and the water is crystal clear. This is actually one of the prettiest coves I’ve seen on the island, and it’s great for swimming and just laying in the sun. The water can get rough sometimes so just be careful

Location: Honolulu

Day 3 - 3 Dec 2021

Sheraton Waikiki

Honolulu, Sheraton Waikiki
Honolulu, Sheraton Waikiki

Content: OK this is quintessential Hawaii to me. If you can afford a room at the Sheraton, I would say you should book it right now. I unfortunately could not, but I did use their infinity pool which has a pool bar and these amazing fruity drinks

Kapa Hale

Content: I wanted some thing fancier for dinner and Kapa Hale just opened relatively recently. It’s upscale Hawaiian Asian fusion and to be honest, I was a little underwhelmed. Some of the things were good and some missed the mark, but the cornbread with homemade lily Koi butter was 🔥

Location: Honolulu

Day 4 - 4 Dec 2021

Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club

Honolulu, Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club
Honolulu, Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club

Content: Rise and shine! This is a super cute place to get coffee and it’s located inside one of my favorite hotels, the surf jack hotel and swim club. It has Ace Hotel vibes from LA, and the baristas are super friendly and chill

Ala Wai Canal

Honolulu, Ala Wai Canal
Honolulu, Ala Wai Canal

Content: If you’re into running, this is a great place to go for a walk or run along the canal if it’s not too hot. I try and work out or hike or do something outside as much as possible when I’m in Hawaii but sometimes I’m too lazy to go on a full on hike and this is a good alternative

Location: Waimānalo

Day 4 - 4 Dec 2021

Ono Steaks and Shrimp Shack

Waimānalo, Ono Steaks and Shrimp Shack

Content: I really love driving to the east side of Oahu, where the beaches are calmer and more tranquil. There’s also really good local food on the east side, like this steak and shrimp shack. They have garlic shrimp plates that are to die for

Content: This was another upscale restaurant that we went to in Waikiki where I was severely underwhelmed. A lot of the items were raw, and the chefs tasting menu was just OK. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend coming here

Location: Mākaha

Day 5 - 5 Dec 2021

Mākaha

Mākaha, Mākaha

Content: We did this hike up the side of a mountain to get these beautiful views. Its called the Makaha Caves hike on alltrails. Also not for the faint of heart, but my mom actually did this one with me and she was totally fine. But wouldn’t recommend for someone that’s not super fit or a dare devil like my mom

Location: Haleiwa

Day 5 - 5 Dec 2021

Giovanni's Shrimp Truck

Haleiwa, Giovanni's Shrimp Truck

Content: If you’re on the west side after the hike, I would continue driving up north to check out the North Shore. The North Shore is famous for surfing but also for being another beautiful part of a wahoo. You have to stop at Giovanni shrimp truck and get shrimp and rice plates

Location: Honolulu County

Day 5 - 5 Dec 2021

Laniakea Beach

Honolulu County, Laniakea Beach

Content: This is a smaller beach on the North Shore, but just as beautiful and relaxing as the rest of the beaches on the island. I think they are turtles here to

Location: Honolulu

Day 5 - 5 Dec 2021

Waikiki

Honolulu, Waikiki
Honolulu, Waikiki

Content: After the North Shore, I usually like to go back into Waikiki, get ready for dinner, and just walk around. You can catch the sunset pretty much anywhere and you’ll get these gorgeous views of diamond head.

Location: Honolulu

Day 6 - 6 Dec 2021

Pearl Harbor National Memorial

Honolulu, Pearl Harbor National Memorial
Honolulu, Pearl Harbor National Memorial

Content: I’m a huge World War II history nerd, and Pearl Harbor is a great experience for people that are interested in history. There’s also a good amount of the memorial that is free to all visitors, and then there are some special exhibits that you pay for. You have to pay to go on the USS Arizona but I think it’s worth it, but there’s a ton that you can see for free if you don’t feel like paying

Location: Kaneohe

Day 6 - 6 Dec 2021

The Byodo-In Temple

Kaneohe, The Byodo-In Temple
Kaneohe, The Byodo-In Temple

Content: There’s a pretty large Japanese influence in terms of culture and food in Hawaii. There’s a big Japanese temple about 30 minutes north of Waikiki that is worth checking out, I think the entrance fee was five dollars a person

Location: Kailua

Day 6 - 6 Dec 2021

Kailua

Kailua, Kailua

Content: Get snow cones in Kailua before heading back to waikiki! So good. I got the rainbow explosion 🌈 with lycee, passionfruit, and mango 🥭

Day 6 - 6 Dec 2021

Paia Fish Market Waikiki

Honolulu, Paia Fish Market Waikiki
Honolulu, Paia Fish Market Waikiki

Content: You have to end your last night at Paia Fish Market for the biggest, freshest, fish plates and salads you’ll ever experience. Very reasonably priced! Get the mahi mahi or seared ahi 🐟 Hawaii, especially oahu, is a must visit destination! It is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and some of the best Hawaiian Japanese Asian cuisine on the globe. Here are some helpful tips for visiting the island • There is seriously never a bad time to come to Oahu. The weather year-round is spectacular, if anything, I would avoid summer only because it’s extremely crowded and airfare can cost to to three times what it normally is • Rent a car! You can definitely get around the island without one, but if it’s your first time and you want to see more than just Waikiki, I highly recommend to rent a car. It’ll be worth it • I always like to stay in Waikiki accommodation wise, but I always like to explore other parts of the island and then come back down into town for dinner and drinks. There’s just a lot more food and drink options in actual Waikiki, but all the beautiful sites like hiking, the beaches, and adventuring through the valley, are usually north or east of Waikiki
