Content: There are no hotels and restaurants on this Island. Make sure you book your campsite in the Scorpion Anchorage campground a few months in advance. Walk about 0.5 miles from the dock to your campground with your stuff and set up camp.

Kayak Tour

Content: We suggest to book this tour in advance. There are different kayak tour options, but we opted for the shortest tour i.e Discovery Sea Kayak Tour to give us more time to explore the island after. The kayak tour is great way to explore the edges of the island, check out the kelp forests and paddle through super cave formations. Although pricey, it was definitely worth a visit.

Kelp Forest

Content: After changing cloths at campsite we took trail that starts near the visitor center for some of the best views on the island. Continue on to North Bluff Trail to Potato Harbor which loops back around to where you started from. Also can just bring some wine and sit down to enjoy the sunset from the top of Cavern Point.

Content: Woke up early today had fruits, packed lunch and left for smugglers cove round trip 8 mile hike. It had sweeping ocean views along a coastline trail that eventually ends at a secluded beach. It takes maximum 4 hours to finish this hike. Halfway there is a rocky beach with tables to eat lunch and outhouses for a bathroom break. No shade during the hike but there is a very cool ocean breeze. Keep an eye on the time to get back to the dock area in time for your ferry back to the mainland.

Content: Had spent lovely 2 days on Santa Cruz Island along with kids. They sell drinks and snacks on board. For them safety is primary concern and they take it seriously. The boats are not the largest you have been on but capable and functional.
