Day 1 - 7 Apr 2019
Content: Our journey to Portland started with a 2 hours Alaska airlines flight from Los Angeles International Airport to Portland International Airport. Flight was decent and leg room was average, airport was excellent with well marked gates and loaded with lot of shops and restaurants.
Content: Rented a car from airport car rental services and took a 20 min drive to our hotel and checked-in. Unique hotel in downtown, rooms were clean and comfortable and not much spacious.
Content: Dropped our luggage and took a short 20 min drive to Mount Tabor park which is known for its open-air reservoirs and its volcanic cinder cone. Lovely park with unpaved walk way, perfect place to hike and enjoy spectacular scenery.
Content: Taking a 15 min drive we reached Biketown also known as Biketown PDX which is a bike renting program. Here we rented a orange cycle and strolled around the waterfront and enjoyed the riverside scenery. Renting per ride and for full day both options are available here.
Content: Taking a 10 min drive we reached The Pearl District. Strolled around the streets and noted some warehouses, art galleries and residences. It is the best place to spend evening.
Content: While returning back to our hotel we stopped at a American restaurant for our dinner. Ordered the pike nachos and pizza both were amazing and loaded with cheese. Service was excellent.
Day 2 - 8 Apr 2019
Content: After breakfast left early with a 30 min drive to Multnomah falls. We hiked through the trails to the top of the hill and we were rewarded with beautiful views of the fall and natural beauty of the lush green rocks. Place was crowded and need to leave early as there are limited parking available.
Content: Returned back from falls and took a stop at a south American restaurant near to our hotel. Ordered steak which were delicious and well cooked, place was crowded but well managed.
Content: Taking a short 10 mins drive we visited Portland Japanese Garden which is known for its several Japanese cultural festivals, art exhibitions. Beautiful place with dozens of stone lanterns.
Content: Heading further towards our last destination for the day is Pittock Mansion which was residence of Oregonian publisher Henry Pittock . The history and the garden are absolutely amazing. We also sat here for a while and read some pages of a book.
Day 3 - 9 Apr 2019
Content: Started our day with a short walk visiting to a well known book store namely Powell’s City of Books. Here we spent some hours reading books, they had wide collection of rare and used books. Very well organised place, readers would love this place.
Content: Later taking a 20 min drive we reached Portland International Airport from where we boarded a 2 hour Alaska airlines flight to Los Angeles International Airport. Check-in was quick and crew was very helpful and kind but leg room was lacking which made this journey back to our home little bit uncomfortable.
