Content: Checked in to our Airbnb home at Carnelian Bay. Our home was perfect for large families with 5beds/6baths. It is located on the north west side of Lake Tahoe. This bay is only 5 mins away from King’s Beach and 30mins from the famous Sand Harbor Beach.

Content: After check in we headed over to King’s Beach for some Argentinian empanadas and ice cream cones from a local market shop. All while the kids played on a playground and enjoyed water splashed on their feet. There was a concert going on so the live music was a plus. We ended the night with a short walk on the beach with a beautiful sunset view.

Tahoe East Shore Trail

Content: We started the day with a short walk down the Tahoe East Shore trail. This trail is fully paved and offers beautiful view of the East side of the lake and is only 3 miles long. This is great for walking, jogging or biking. My advise get here early due to limited parking. Parking was $10 per vehicle cash only.

Hidden Beach Plaza

Content: The first beach you will find off of the Tahoe East Shore Trail is Hidden Beach. Therefore, this was our first stop and it didn’t disappoint. Definitely Instagram worthy spot. We found a good swimming spot with low crowds. Wear your water shoes for this one as you will find the beginning of the beach full of rocks. Once you go past the rocky section it’s all smooth white sand!

Content: We started our morning early because we wanted to spend a whole day by the beach. Sand Harbor Beach is one of the most iconic beaches in Lake Tahoe and totally Instagram worthy. Parking is limited and fills up fast. The parking lot opens at 7am and usually fills within an hour. We brought a canopy and some food. There are public restrooms and a restaurant on site. We were also right next to kayak rentals which we were able to rent without reserving in advance. I strongly advise you reserve in advance if your not getting there early as the line can get pretty long!

Content: This was the highlight of my trip! Checked off my bucket list here. We rented kayaks for the day and explored around Sand Harbor. I would strongly recommend you rent a kayak for the whole day as its only $45 per kayak. With the kayak we were able to explore nearby beaches that were less crowded and we found that beautiful iconic turquoise water. You won’t regret it!

Content: Another highlight of my trip was renting bikes on the Tahoe East Shore Trail! This was definitely the best way to beat the heat and get to enjoy the views of the lake. Pack your swimsuit for this one! Your going to want to park your bike and enjoy a quick refreshing dip in the lake. The trail provides bike parking throughout so that your easily able to make pit stops down to the shore. I strongly recommend you rent the bike for a whole day and get the most out of it.

Content: We ended our night at the Heavenly village in South Lake Tahoe. We really enjoyed the food at Azul Latin kitchen. They had good music(live music when we were there) playing and the ambiance was comfortable. They have plenty of seating outside and inside. The wait time was about 35mins but the wait was worth it. Most of the restaurants there will have a similar wait time. We didn’t mind waiting since we got to explore the plaza a little bit.

Emerald Bay State Park

Content: Another iconic area of Lake Tahoe; Emerald Bay. The Rubicon trail starts right here on the top at the Emerald Bay lookout. You can do a short 1mile hike down to the bay from here. I do warn you that parking is limited so either get there early or after 3pm. Parking is usually limited all over Lake Tahoe as the roads are narrow.

Content: Once you go down the Rubicon trail from the emerald bay look out you will see the historic Vikingsholm castle. This Scandinavian castle sits right in the middle of Emerald Bay and has lots of history. They offer tours but we decided to skip it for this time. Instead we took a dip on the beach and enjoyed ice cream from the gift shop next to the castle. I also bought this cute mug from there!
