Day 1 - 15 Jun 2019
Content: Started our trip, with a 3hr drive from Colorado to Great Sand Dunes which was our first stop before heading for a hike.
Content: As soon as we reached, it was time for our first activity, we enjoyed sliding down the dunes as if it was snow, where we engraved our names and had some photos. Later we hiked up and down through the dunes.
Content: Checked-in to a hotel, good rooms with view of sand dunes and sunset. Rooms were clean and nice and the staff was very friendly.
Content: They didn't had food facility available at the property, so we had packed food, which we carried with us. They should provide food as there is nothing available nearby.
Day 2 - 16 Jun 2019
Content: Started our next morning with a delicious breakfast, later we took a 4hr Drive to Mesa Verde National Park, which is known for its archeological heritage. Passing through Rio Grande and the San Juan National Forests.
Content: As soon as we reached Mesa Verde National Park entrance, we had our tank full before proceeding further, as It is a Day long Car journey. The archaeological sites structure are in amazing condition.
Content: Later we took a long drive and reached to see ancient Pueblo people homes, where there ancestors used to stay.
Content: Before reaching the park we took a stop at Cliff Dwellings for amazing view and took a guided tour.
Content: Heading further we stopped at visitor center to collect tickets, and went for a tour guided by Ranger guide. without tour also the view is amazing, but its cheap one can afford it.
Content: Took a 20min drive and checked-in to a hotel within the national park, good place to stay not much spacious but they have all you need. Staff is very helpful.
Content: We had dinner at the restaurant located above on second floor, the food was every good, do prior booking before visiting during peak hours.
Day 3 - 17 Jun 2019
Content: After a delicious breakfast, we left hotel and headed towards Telluride which was 2hr drive. Had a Gondola ride between the mountains it was amazing .
Content: Later on we took a second stop which was just 20min later. The place where we had lunch on mountain cliff.
Content: While having lunch, planned to have some thrill on this journey so we hiked to Bridal Veil Falls, the Telluride town view was breath taking.
Content: In evening we reached down to a camp ground were we spent our night between the mountains viewing the moon from View hole of our tent.
Content: Had dinner, along with many other campers and had rest for our next day.
Day 4 - 18 Jun 2019
Content: As windstorm started early in the morning, we Packed our camp and left to Black Canyons of the Gunnison National Park. known for its step walls.
Content: Decending down through canyon we reached Gunnison River. For watching huge Canyon walls.
Content: Drive down from canyon, we assembled our camp, here we were going to spend our night, be aware of animal sign boards before camping.
Content: After camping we had our dinner which was ready to cook chicken noodles, which was average.
Day 5 - 19 Jun 2019
Content: Skipping breakfast, we headed towards back to Black Canyon through South Rim drive in the park. The place felt like no mans land there were very few car along the way, we clicked lot of photos here, Just take a step back.
Content: While on the way we took a stop at a small town and had our lunch. The food was delicious and desert were simply wow.
Content: While driving along the river we reached Gunnison National Forest, which was our campsite for tonight, assembled our camps and got to know from locals that Bear were spotted before the day we arrived.
Content: We cooked fish which we bought from local market in town, later we had Food away from our camp as we were frightened of Bear and didn't wanted to Invite them with a smell of fish.
Day 6 - 20 Jun 2019
Content: After a breakfast in near by restaurant, we took a 7hr drive and reached back to our starting point Colorado after an amazing road trip. we would love to visit here again with more days.
